varietyofnauticalchartsandrelatedproductsNauticalchartscanvaryin
scaleandformatChartscalereferstoameasurementofanarea,notthe
distanceAchartcoveringarelativelylargeareaiscalledasmallscale
chart;alargescalechartwillcoverarelativelysmallareaandshow
muchgreaterdetailHavingthemostcurrentchartisimportantThatis
whythepublicationdateiscriticalStormsandwaveactioncanalterthe
coastline,soonlyup-to-datechartsshouldbeusedfornavigationFor
allnavigation,boatoperatorsshouldalsousethechartthatprovidesthe
