SCOPE 1.1 Application This specification covers the general requirements for fiber optic telecommunication cables used for aerial application. 1.2 Cable Description 1) Single Jacket, Non Armor, Self-support Figure-8 Single or Multi mode color coded fibers, filled color coded loose tubes, PE filler (if required), SZ-stranded around the dielectric central strength member, water blocking tape, dielectric strength member, suspension wire and outer PE jacket 2. OPTICAL FIBER The optical, geometrical and mechanical performance of the optical fiber shall be in accordance with Table 1 and 2 below. Table 1. CABLE CONSTRUCTION The construction of the cable shall be in accordance with Table 3 below. Table 3. FIBER AND LOOSE BUFFER TUBE IDENTIFICATION The color code of the loose buffer tubes and the individual fibers within each loose buffer tube shall be in accordance with Table 4 below. Table 4. PHYSICAL / MECHANICAL / ENVIRONMENTAL PERFORMANCE The mechanical and environmental performance of the cable shall be in accordance with Table 5 below. Unless otherwise specified, attenuation is measured before and after each test in this section and all attenuation measurements required in this section shall be performed at 1550nm for single mode fiber (SM) and at 1300nm for multi mode fiber (MM). REPRESENTATIVE SPAN LENGTHS Representative span lengths for installation are in accordance with Table 6 below. Table 6. Representative Span Lengths NESC Loading District Fiber count Max. Span length (m) 36 200 120 170 * Span length based on 1% installation sag in heavy storm area as defined in Rule 251 of the National Electric Safety code (NESC). Other span and sag condition is also available if required by customer. 7. PACKING AND MARKING 7.1 Cable Marking The jacket shall be marked at intervals of one meter with following information. 1) Cable type and fiber counts 2) Name of the manufacturer 3) Year of manufacture 4) Length marking 7.2 Cable Packing 7.2.1 Standard length of cable shall be 2km. Other cable length is also available if required by customer. 7.2.2 Each length of the cable shall be wound on a separate wooden reel. 7.2.3 Both ends of the cable shall be sealed with a suitable plastic cap to prevent the entry of moisture during shipping, handling and storage. 7.2.4 Wood-fiber board or circumference battens shall be laid on cable between flanges and fixed by steel bands. 7.2.5 The cable ends shall be securely fastened to the reel to prevent the cable from becoming loose in transit or during placing operations. KRONE RESERVE THE RIGHT TO MAKE CHANGE TO THIS DOCUMENT WITHOUT PRIOR NOTICE REV: 3.0 KRSI-610C PAGE 8 OF 7 7.3 Cable Reel 7.3.1 Details given below shall be distinctly marked on a weather proof materials on both outer sides of the reel flange: (1) Length of cable in meters (2) Cable type and fiber counts (3) Gross weight in kilograms (4) Reel number (5) Name of the manufacturer (6) Year of manufacture (7) Arrow showing the direction the drum shall be rolled 7.3.2 The cable shall be wound on the reel designed to prevent damages during shipment and installation. 7.3.3 The arbor hole on each flange shall be lined with a metal plate. == End of Specification == .
