- - 8 Modules Traditional DSX requirements are defined to have an IN, OUT and MONITOR jack Each DSX position or module provides an IN and OUT switching jack for direct access to the network element’s input and output signals These jacks provide a means to temporarily break the connection between network elements that are cross-connected together and allow access to the signals for test and patching operations A MONITOR jack with a high impedance bridge network (21.5 dB below the active signal) is connected to the OUT jack for non-intrusive access to the output signal of each network element Port Module The port module provides IN and OUT switching jacks for direct access to the network element’s input and output signals, and a single MONITOR jack connected to the OUT jack for non-intrusive access to the network element’s output signal Port Module The port module provides IN and OUT switching jacks for direct access to the network element’s input and output signals DUAL MONITOR jacks allow monitoring both directions of transmission at a single module location Port Module The port module provides IN and OUT switching jacks for direct access to the network element’s input and output signals DUAL MONITOR jacks allow monitoring both directions of transmission at a single module location In addition to these four jacks, the port module provides auxiliary X-IN and X-OUT switching jacks that access toward the cross-connect These additional access ports are especially helpful when the other end of the crossconnect is physically located at a great distance (such as another room or floor) or when access to the other end is restricted (such as the collocation of two different service providers) Pre-Termination Option The RZX-3 chassis may be initially configured with circuit frame modules, but no jacks, in order to create a fully modular pre-termination connection point for equipment cables Similar to the deployment of network elements that are not equipped with electronic circuit cards until service is required, the RZX-3 can defer the cost of jacks until service is required The chassis and cable infrastructure may be constructed in preparation of future service demand, while jack costs are deferred until revenue generating service is turned up Unlike any other pre-termination DSX chassis, this fully modular design allows any single component to be replaced if damaged, without interrupting adjacent in-service circuits Rack Mounting Whether selecting the 24 or 32 position 4” high mounting chassis, all configurations are compatible with 19” rack mounting With its basic architecture, RZX-3 is ideal for any 19" or 23" mounting arrangement in racks or cabinets 9/00 • 298 RZX-3 Products The rear cross-connect modules have jacks for temporary access on the front of the module, permanent equipment cable interface connections on the rear of the module, and semi-permanent cross-connect interface connections on the rear of the module w w w a d c c o m • + -
