STORY TIME 2(Ee,Ff,Gg,Hh) I Aims.

1/Knowledge.

-To consolidate the sound of the letters Ee, Ff, Gg and Hh and the corresponding words

egg, elf, elephant, elbow ,fox, fish, frog, fork ,glass, goat, garden, gorrila ,hat, hen, hippo, horse

2 Skill: Listening, writing , speaking and reading. 3 Attitude.

- Educate Ss to be friendly with friends

- Students love animals and tree with the letter g II.Teaching aids:

T: teachers’ book, , CD, phonics cards ,paper including the lyrics of the chant Ss: Student’s book, colour Activity book.

2.Warm up ( 5’) Bingo game

-Prepare some bingo cards with the words in unit 5-8 and hand them out to the stu-dents

-Each bingo card should have a different set of words

-Say the words or show the pictures and have the students put a tick into the pic-tures in their bingo card

-The winner is the first student whose card is full of tick and who show Bingo 3 New lesson ( 30’ )

8 Activity (Track 86) (10 mins) -(book closed) Tell the students that it’s story time

-Ask them if they like reading stories and what their favourite storybook character is -Prepare phonics cards of these word: hippo, elf, garden, fish and frog

-Ask the students to read out the words

1.Listen Read along

- Ss: look and read - Ss: work individually

-Invite students to guess what they think the story is about

-Ask the students to open and look at the book

-Ask them questions about what they can see in the pictures

E.g: Teacher: (pointing to the elf in picture 1) Look! What’s this?

Class: (It’s an) elf!

Teacher: (pointing to the hat in picture 1) A happy hippo with a …. Class: hat! etc

-Play the CD and ask the students to listen and follow the story in their books, pointing to the pictures of the key words

-Play the CD again pausing for the students to repeat

- Ss: listen

-Ask individual students to read the story aloud

- Ss: work individually

Extension (optional) (5 minutes) -Ask students to close their book

-Read out a few sentences from the story and ask the students to complete them

e.g Teacher: look at my… Class: garden! Etc

- Ss: work in groups * Activity (5 mins) -Explain the activity

-Ask the students to draw lines from the items to the hipp’s garden

-Ask individuals to name the items - Ss: work individuals

Act Out (5 mins)

-Read the sentences in the story, pause at the key words

-Invite the students to mime them (the hippo, the elf, the garden, the fish, the frog) -Have the students come to the front of the classroom and act out the story

- Ss: work indicidually

* Practice.

e.g Teacher: look at my… Class: garden! Etc

2.What is in the hippo’s garden? Draw lines

* Practice.

-Encourage them to have fun as they per-form

Drawing (5minutes)

-Students choose their favourite animals or objects from the story, then draw and deco-rate it following their hobbies

4.Consolidation:

I.Aims.

-Teacher say out the sound, the students holding the cards with that sound come to give the cards to the teacher

-The students use the code to colour each item according to its initial sound

-The students say the words for each picture and cross out the one that has a different ini-tial sound

- Ss: look at the picture and cross the odd one out

* Activity 4.(Track 87) (5 mins) -Explain the activity

-Have students say the names of the items -Play the CD

- Ss: listen and tick - Ss: work individually

-The students listen and tick () yes or no Draw the pictures (7 mins)

-Divide class into two teams

-The teams take it turn to send a student to the board

1.Circle the right letters Say the letter and the sound

2.Use the code and colour the pictures

-As they come forward, give them a phonics card from the words they have learnt

- Ss; work in pairs

-Students try to illustrate it by drawing the pictures so that their team can identify -If their team recognizes the word, they get point
