Objectives : By the end of the lesson , Ss will be able to :  Learn some new words.  Use prepositions of places to describe the positions of things.  Develop listening , reading , writing and understanding skills. New words : - look at ( v ) : nhìn vào - tall ( adj ) : cao - mountain ( n ) : núi, ngọn núi - well ( v ) : cái giếng - in front of … : phía trước - behind : phía sau Trang 1 - to the left of … : beân traùi cuûa - to the right of … : beân phaûi cuûa - between …and … : ở giữa … và 2. Grammar points :  There is a / an + noun ( singular )  There are + noun ( plural ) III.Techniques of teaching :  Listening , speaking and writing skills  Picture drill.  Questions and answers  Pair work and group work. IV. Teacing aids - Text book, tape record , pictures. V. Procedures : 1. Warm up : Teacher asks Ss to look at the two pictures and answer the questions :  What can you see in the pictures ? Trang 2 2. New lesson : • Part C1 : a. Presentation : Teacher introdures the content of the lesson : today we come to Thuy’s house to find what there are around the house and the positions of things around the house. b. Practice : Teacher supplies Ss new words and the Ss have to find the meaning of words themselve. * look at ( v ) : nhìn vaøo * tall ( adj ) : * mountain ( n ) : * well (n ) : * in front of… * behind : Trang 3 A is tall. A is not tall. * to the left of … : * to the right of … : * between …and … : Ss are asked to read the new words after the teacher .Then they practice reading chorally and individually. • Free practice : Ss are asked to look at the pictures and answer some questions :  Picture 1 : What is this ?- It’s a well.  Picture 2 : What are these ? – They are mountains.  Picture 3 : Where is the well ? – It’s in front of the house. - It’s to the left of the house. - It’s to the right of the house.  Picture 4 : Where are the tall trees ?- They are behind the house. • Practice the text : Trang 4 A B is be t w e e n A an d C CB  Ss are asked to listen to the tape three times and repeat after the teacher without looking at their books.  Ss are asked to open their books, and T asked three students read the text aloud .  T has Ss two minutes to read the text silently.Then they asked to look at the picture and answer the questions in pairs. * Questions and answers : 1.Where is the yard ? – It is in front of the house. 2.Where are the tall trees ? – They are behind the house. 3.Where are the mountains ?- They are behind the tall trees. 4.Where is the well ? – It is to the left of the house. 5. Where are the flowers ? – They are to the right of the house. 6.Where is the house ? – It is between the well and the flowers. c. Free practice : Ss are asked to look at the pictures and answer the questions : 1.Where is the chicken ? 2.Where are the mountains ? - It is to the left of the chair. - They are behind the house. Trang 5 3.Where is the car ? 4.Where is the ball ? - It is to the right of the house. – It is in front of the house. • Part C2 : a.Presentation :  Teacher states the purpose of listening : Listen and find the right picture.Then write about the three houses in your exercise book.  Teacher has the Ss look at each pair of the two houses and find the differences between them before having the Ss listen to the tape. b. Practice :  Ss find the differences between each pair of the two houses and choose the right picture after listening the text three times. ( each exercise )  Teacher asks Ss to right about the three pictures after they choose the right pictures. * The questions and answers : a.Which is Ba’s house ? A. B . Flowers / in front of flowers / behind - The answer : Picture A. Ba lives in a beautiful house.There are a lot of flowers in front of the house. Trang 6 b.Which is Lan’s house ? A. B.
