LESSON PLAN Lesson title: UNIT 3 : A PARTY Date: 13/10/2010 Textbook: English 11 Teaching point : Vocabulary Teacher’s name: Nguy n Th Hoa Lanễ ị I. Class level: Pre-intermediate II. Aim: • Practice using new words in a special party. • Pronounce vocabularies clearly and exactly. III. Target language: Vocabulary ( 5 words) • Nouns: golden anniversary, silver anniversary,candle,host( hostess), party-goer. IV. Anticipated problem • Sts can make a noise because this is an interesting topic. V. Solution: • T suggests that we will discuss this topic after finishing learning vocabulary. VI. Material: textbook, board,picture,and real object. VII. Time guided: 15 minutes Stage Teacher Students Time Warm-up Introduce the lesson - asks “ are you tired?”, “ are you sleepy?” - continues “ we go to the Lisa’s birthday and Rosa’s wedding. Do you agree?” - says “ but we will go after finishing learning vocabulary”. - “move on the lesson - give answer as a whole class. 3’ Unit3”, and writes the title on the board “ A PARTY”. -copy the title on the book. Language focus: teaching voc. 1. silver anniversary (n): k ni m ám ỉ ệ đ c i b cướ  situation - a couple has married for 25years. Now, they celebrate their wedding again. So, the party is called…… ( tell me the word in Vietnamese) - writes the new word on the board and asks to repeat. -So, the 50 th wedding anniversary is called…  golden anniversary (n) 2. candle (n): èn c y đ  real object - look! This is a candle ( pointing to the candle). A candle. A candle. - asks Sts “ what is it?” 3. host (n): ch nhà ủ ( nam)  ( explanation) - says “ you celebrate a party at home and invite some friends to take part in. so, what are you called?” ( Tell me the word in Vietnamese).  hostess (n): ch nhà ủ ( n )ữ 4. party-goer (n): ng i i d ti c ườ đ ự ệ  ( explanation). - explains “ you are invited to a party. Thus, who are you?” ( speak in Vietnamese). Now listen to it in English. - listen and answer the Q. - listen and repeat in chorus. -give answer and repeat it. -give answer in Sts’own language. -repeat in chorus. -guess the meaning of the word and repeat it 6’ 5. milestone (n):giai o n quan tr ng, m c đ ọ ố l ch sị ửexample - writes “ 18 age : passed a university entrance exam; 22 age: gratuate university; 25 age: have a high status in society,…. So,what are those events called in your life?” - writes the word and asks to repeat. Use language -Asks Sts to make some sent. for the new words in pair. .-Sts make some sent. For the new words in pair. 2’ Checking comprehension - checks vocabulary with “ Slap the board” game. - explains about the game’s rule: Put the voc.all over the board-not in a list. Divide into 2 groups,2 Sts of 2 groups must run forward&slap the word on the board when any word is read. - listen to T’s direction and pratice 4’ . Pre-intermediate II.
