Unit 1 back to school Period 2/ 1 st week A. friends (a1-2) Planning date: Teaching date I. Objectives: 1. Language: - Revision of greetings and introduction. - The present simple tense. - Comparative of adj. 2. Skills: - Greetings in pairs or groups - Reading comprehension. II. Pre parat ion 1. Teacher: - Picture of the reading text and the dialogue. 2. Students: - See the greetings and introduction in the Tieng Anh 6 over again. III . Proce dure: stages activities 1. Ice-breaking 2. Pre-teaching 3. While- teaching - T gives remarks on the 1 st test. - Introduce the main content and structure of Tieng Anh 7. - T asks questions about Ss’ holiday: a. How is your holiday? b. How do you feel to be back to school again? c. How do you greet your friends when you met again? - T makes a Brainstorm of the greetings:  Good morning!  Hello.  Hi.  Nice to meet you. Act 1: Listen. Then practice with a partner - T asks Ss to look at the picture, then presents the situation of the dialogue by asking questions: a. Do you know Ba, Nga and Hoa? b. Which school do they go to? c. Which class are they in? d. What are they doing now ?  Yes.  Quang Trung school  Class 7A Greeting each other stages activities - T plays the tape, Ss listen and repeat the dialogue. Then Ss practice the dialogue in groups of three. T goes around to help weak Ss or groups. - T calls some groups to practice aloud before the class. - T asks Ss to work in groups again : read the questions and answer those questions. 4. Who is also in class 7A?  Her name is Hoa  She is in class 7A  Nam is also in class 7A - Ss practice in pairs asking and answering the above questions and answers. Act 2: Read. Then answer the questions about Hoa - T presents: Hoa is the new girl in Quang Trung school. She is in class 7A with Nam, Ba and Nga. Now read the text about Hoa and answer the following questions: a. Where is Hoa from? b. Who is she staying with? c. Does she have a lot of friends in Ha Noi ? d. How is the new school different from the old one? e. Why is Hoa unhappy? - In groups, Ss read the text and answer the questions. a. She is from Hue. b. She staying with her uncle and aunt. c. No, she doesn’t d. Her new school is bigger than the old one. e. Because she misses her parents and her friends - Ss practice asking and answering the questions, T listens and corrects the pronunciation. - Some pairs stand up and practice aloud before the class. - Ss work in groups, talk about their own old school, using structure: “It is bigger/smaller than….” - T remind Ss the structure : To be different from smt, the structures of greetings and the main content of the text about Hoa. - At home, write 5 sentences about your old school and 5 sentences about your new school and read the dialogue again for fluency. - Prepare for the next lesson A 3 – 4 – 5 Unit 1 back to school Period 3/ 1 st week A. friends (a 3 – 4 – 5) Planning date: Aug 01 st 09 Teaching date: I. Objecti ves: 1. Language: - Revision of greetings and introduction. - The present simple tense. - Make familiar with social English. 2. Skills: - Listening comprehension, then complete the dialogue and combine pictures. II. Pre parati on 1. Teacher: - Picture of the listening text and the dialogue. 2. Students: - Prepare homework. III. Proce dure : stages activities 1. Ice-breaking 2. Presentation 3. Practice: - Check Ss’ homework and preparation. - Practice greeting in the class. Greetings - T asks Ss to work in groups to find as many words as they can to add to the Network: a. Formal greetings : Good morning/good afternoon/good evening b. Informal greetings : Hello/Hi - Ss practice greetings each other in pairs, T goes around, encouraging Ss to speak aloud. Activity 1: Listen. Then practice with a partner - T present the picture of the dialogue between Mr. Tan and Nga, asks eliciting questions: 1. Who are they? They are Nga and Mr. Tan. 2. What are they doing? They are greeting each other. - T plays the tape, Ss listen to the dialogue. For the 1 st time, Ss can listen with books open. For the 2 nd time, Ss close their books, listen and repeat. stages activities - Ss practice the dialogue in pairs, T encourage Ss close their books and practice. Then some pairs stand up practicing greetings aloud before the class. T correct the pronunciation and intonation for Ss. Activity 2: Listen. Then complete the dialogue: - T presents the structure often used in everyday English to greet or ask after each 4. Production other. Listen. write the letter of dialogue as you hear: - T presents the 4 pictures p. 13, asking eliciting questions and asks Ss to write the letter of the picture which is described : 1. Who are in the 1 st / 2 nd /’3 rd /4 th picture? 2. Each group sends one S to be secretary to write their answer on the Study report. - T plays the tape 3 times, stops after each time to check if there are any answers. T corrects mistake and gives out the key answers. T can gives marks for active Ss. 4. Production: 5. Homework: - Ss work in pairs to make their own dialogues and practice with their partners. T goes around to help weak Ss only. - Some pairs practice their dialogue before the class, T can gives remarks and marks. - Play with words (if have enough time, T let Ss read in chorus, if not, Ss will read it at home for fluency as homework) - Ss write their own dialogue in the notebooks - Prepare next lesson Names and addresses Unit 1 back to school Period 4/ 2 nd week b. names and addresses Teaching date: (b1 – 2 – 3*) Teaching date: I. Objecti ves: 1. Language: - Structures : WH – QUESTIONS - Vocabulary : Personal information 2. Skills: - After the lesson, Ss will be able to ask and answer about personal information. Ss will make familiar with how to write their own personal information on a form. II. Preparation 1. Teacher: - Picture of the listening text and the dialogue. - A personal information form. - Some short activity. 2. Students: - Revise questions words. - Make their own information form as model at page 16 – TA 7. III. Proce dure : stages activities 1. Ice-breaking (5’) 2. Presentation (5”) 3. Practice: (10”) - Check Ss’ homework and preparation. - Revise greeting in the class between Ss and Ss, between T and Ss. - Ss work in big groups to find as many question words that they have learnt as they can remember. T sum up all the Ss’ work and write on bb What Who Why - Ss read in chorus all the question words written on the bb and note down if they can’t remember. Activity 1: Listen. Who are they talking about? (They are talking about Hoa) c. Do you know what are we going to do? ( Complete the dialogue) d. How to complete it? (Filling suitable questions words) - Ss work in groups to complete the dialogue, T goes around to control the class and help weak groups. - Each group sends one person to write their results on bb, T checks and corrects all. T also can gives remarks on how the groups work. Key answers: Who Who What Where Where How - Ss practice the complete dialogue in pairs, T corrects the pronunciation and intonation. Activity 3: Make a information form - T asks the questions to let Ss know how to complete this activity and also present the form (Ss have already prepare at home). 1. How to ask if you want to know someone’s name? 2. How to ask if you want to know his/her age? 3. How to ask if you want to know which school she/he go to? 4. How to ask if you want to know his / her home address ? - Ss work in pairs, change their turn to ask for the above information and complete the form, T can collect the form to correct some works, if time is not enough T may bring them home for checking . - Stick the best work on the bb and gives marks and comments. Teacher: - Picture of the some places and transport means. - A table of distance among big cities. - Some short activities. 2. Students: - Prepare vocabulary for the lesson. III. Proce dure : stages activities 1. Ice-breaking (5’) 2. Presentation (15”) - Check Ss’ homework and preparation. Listen. Then practice with a partner 1. How do/does + S + go to ………? - T presents the picture of the dialogue. Ask questions: 1. Who are in the picture? 2. What are they doing ? 3. How do you go to school? - T presents structure How do/does + S + go to ………? T uses the picture to explain the meaning and make an example to make it clearer: E.g.: How do you go to school ?
