The purpose of this talk is to give u some background knowledge about this famous company. Now let start with part 1: the way Dell company was born Dell Inc was found by Michael Saul Dell – an American business magnate, investor, philanthropist, and author. He first built and sold personal computers from his dorm room at Texas at the age of 19. The company was started with $1000. Four years later, shares of Dell stock were sold for $8.50. In 1992 aged 27, he became the youngest CEO to have his company ranked in Fortune magazine's list of the top 500 corporations. To understand how this could be, let me turn to part 2: the key success factors for Dell One answer is the built – to – order manufacturing Dell built its computers, and servers to order; none were produced for inventory. Dell customers could order custom-built servers and workstations based on the needs of their applications That means customers who bought from Dell got the satisfaction of having their computers customized to their particular liking and pocketbook. In addition to the built – to – order manufacturing, Dell has been focusing on social media strategies to reach customers and potential customers with marketing offers. Dell reportedly earned $1 million in revenue from transmitting messages about sales and discounts to its Twitter followers.
