Australia ix Pecha Kucha It 339 realities not seem to be on students’ minds in those first few days We also know both from past experience and the literature that students entering university feel they can find all the information they need for their academic writing on the Internet, as that is often all they needed to in high school ( Jacobson & Mark, 2000) Because of this mindset, they are unlikely to think that they need the library for academics, and their initial interest may be in our study space, laptop rentals, or media collection But if we can slip in some information about academic sources, peer review, and research help while we extol the virtues of our beautiful views, hopefully they will remember the library when faced with their first research paper The good news is that after campaigning for several years by the Library and other departments on campus, NSO is returning to having concurrent sessions as part of the 2-day format The Library was invited to planning sessions for Fall 2017, and organizers have agreed to let the Library again have our own session Plans are in the works to reprise our Pecha Kuchaestyle presentation to provide students with fun facts about the Library that we hope will be memorable enough to them to remember when they are faced with the realities of academia We are looking forward to see if this format once again engages students,
