Spring forceholds the pressure control valve closed, which blocks oilfrom the upper flange of the piston to return and preventsthe piston from moving.Pressure in the hammer circuit increases, whichcompresses the nitrogen gas in the accumulator.NOTE: The top of the piston is always vented toatmosphere. The control valve directs oil from theupper flange area of the piston to the tank.During the LIFTING CYCLE, oil pressure at thebottom of the piston moves the piston up. This design prevents hydraulicpulsation from entering the machine auxiliary circuit.
