the network adopted shielded twisted pair wire is shown as follow Computer or communication manage CAN EDCS-82202 CANH CANH 07 EDCS-81201 CANL CANH 02 07 EDCS-8210 CANL CANH 02 07 CANL 02 CANL R G00 G00 G00 G00 FIG 7-5 CAN communication connection chart In order to improve communication quality, suggestions for user’s reference are as follows: 1) Recommended: 500k(Distance≤90m), 250k(Distance≤180m), 125k(Distance≤300m), 50k(Distance≤800m), 20k(Distance≤2000m) 2) Communication lines must be connected fast and reliably The communication in whole system will be affected if the connection of communication lines is bad, disconnected, shorted-circuit or the configuration of communication parameters is not right 3) Only one resistor of 120 Ω is permitted to connect with the device side of the bus in a whole CAN network of system Communication bus and matching resistor makes a loop which effectively prevent the self-excited oscillation on the bus to influence the communication 4) The shield ground G00 of the communication network should be connected with the shield ground of computer 5) The above wring chart is taking PCL-841CAN bus communication card, for an example The CAN signal is transmitted by the short frame that the valid bytes count to 8, so that the transmitting time is short, interfered probability is low The function of automatic close will cut off the contact of the node with bus when the node communication is severity mistake so that the communication and other nodes on the bus are not influenced So the anti-interference ability is very strong The CAN bus can work in peer-to-peer, any node can send information at any time to all others on bus, which can structure many host systems 7.2.2 RS-485 COMMUNICATION LINEAR CONNECTION EDCS-7000 & 8000 is intended to adopt RS-485 for network group communication, which utilizes communication protocol of IEC-60870-5-103 RS-485 transmits signals via Shielded Twisted Pair (STP), whose communication distance is possibly up to 1200m Yet in case of a transmission line being connected with quite a few of RS-485 devices, or the operating Baud rate being fairly high, the communication distance will correspondingly get a shrinking EDCS-7000 & 8000 series products are generally used as slaver devices in a practical system, communicated 53 NEW CENTURY-RELAYS EDCS-8220 General Monitoring Device Instruction Manual with host devices as PC and communication manager etc If the master is not provided with RS-485 port but only the RS-232, the RS-232/485 convertor would be used (a kind of equipment used for transforming the interface level between RS-232 and RS-485) In fact, RS-485 net may be various topology structures, take the RS-422/485 communication car (PCL-745) for example The line form connection, which is connecting the devices of EDCS-7000, 8000 series to the communication network one after another from the place of master to the end, is suitable for the situation that the devices are fixed concentration and there is expanding demand in future It is illustrated in figure 7-6 In figure 7-6, Rt is an anti-reflective resistor which resistance must match for the cable impedance Generally be 120Ω Computer or communicate EDCS-82202 485 A A 04 EDCS-8120 B A 09 04 EDCS-8210 B A 09 04 B 09 B R G00 G00 G00 G00 FIG 7-6 Communication connected wiring of RS-485 To improve the quality of communication, suggestions for user’s reference are as follows: 1) High-quality STP is essential and it is recommended the shielded twisted pair with AWG22 (0.25mm2)Two twisted wires should differ from colour 2) Communication lines must be connected fast and reliably The communication in whole system will be affected if the connection of communication lines is bad, disconnected, shorted-circuit or the configuration of communication parameters is not right 3) Pay more attention to the single point grounding of the shielded layer; the so-called single-point grounding means that one and only one point on the shielded layer of one communication line is earthed Grounding at both ends will bring the ground loop current, resulting in inducing noise interference on the communication cable 4) On one communication line, the RS-485 ports must be the A (+) connected to A (+), B (-) to B (-), not be reverse 5) Communication lines should be away from the sources of electromagnetic interference, such as strong electricity lines, as far as possible 54 NEW CENTURY-RELAYS 7.2.3 EDCS-8220 General Monitoring Device Instruction Manual ETHERNET 3) The color of two crystal connection is more than above one, but it can get the best effect if choose above colors 7.2.4 B CODE COMMUNICATION CONNECTION EDCS-7000 and 8000 series device can choose B code communication to check time, and its transmission medium is shielded twisted pair The device is often used as subordinate computer in B code time checking system Linear connection: that is from GPS several EDCS-7000 and 8000 devices access B code communication network one by one This connection is suitable for those situations which with the extension requirement in the future devices are
