INDIVIDUAL EXERCISE REPORT THE SITUATION AND PLAN OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY’S APPLICATION IN MANAGING AND TEACHING IN SCHOOL Part One: THE APPLICATION OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY IN SCHOOL’S MANAGEMENT The software be used for the school’s management is the VNPT – School which is provided by the Haiphong Telecommunications Currently, Ngo Quyen High School is one of the first units,which applys this software effectively I The purpose of application: The application of information technology (IT) computerizes the management and building the necessary applications such as: - The management of student records: Ensure that the student records are managed closely on IT systems,it helps the process of students’s management as well as the process of aggregating data are consistent, fast and accurate - The administrative management: Make sure the systems of reference,certificate are on regulation,fast and accurate - The applications for school’s management such as : The management of point, schedule, the contacts book between families and schools,the information between leaders, teachers and parents - The implement of lookup points service, especially lookup points in various forms (through websites, mobile phones, landline phones, ) II Implementation process Before using the VNPT – School software, Ngo Quyen High School has used many other application software, such as the software of point’s management,be used on the Access- LAN network However, as the Internet is growing up, the above software revealed many shortcomings in the application Therefore, the VNPT – School software is chosen to use in the school’s management • The overview of the VNPT – School software : VNPT - School Haiphong in the school’s management : - The management of teachers: * The list of all school teachers with full informations * The teaching assignment and other concurrently works * The rate of teaching progress of each teacher through the work schedule and the teaching results through the scores of students * The situation of teaching through the day-to-day presence * Notice the weekly plan of school - The management of students: * Distribute the class list * Transfer students, statistics on the moved out, moved in * Statistics students with many different components such as : the gender, commune, religion, people, policy and study result, etc • Manage the score, grade on learning and behavior - The administrative management : * Provide the certificate, score- card quickly * The currently and previous school years of statistics, reports * Print the score The VNPT - School in the contact between the school and parents: - Provide the information for parents on the absence, the daily violated the rules quickly - Report the scores of students, after checking for up to weeks III.The evaluation after two years of use - There are many gadgets in the management - Leaders and teachers can use at all times,it is not necessary to go to school - Give the unite and accurate reported data - Save infrastructure, it does not have much equipments - Free up unnecessary labor for teachers, especially and record the entry points at the end of the semester, at the end of the school year - It can be applied at a higher management level, as Department of Education and Training - Strengthening the contact between the school ,family and society IV Recommendations and suggestions: - Propose to the unit, providing the software: • Upgrade the using features at higher versions • Improve the stability of the program - Propose to Department of Education and Training : there should be unity and stability in the form of department’s reports - Propose to the Ministry of Education and Training: it should ensure the stability of the rules and regulations for the evaluation and grading of students during the school year The second part: THE APPLICATION OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY IN TEACHING The application of information technology in teaching, by using the supported softwares such as: PowerPoint, Photoshop, Zebra, Emindmap, Chemistry, in preparing teacher's lesson I Some results have been achieved on the application of information technology in schools the last time: - The application of information technology in teaching and management is cared by the school leadership specially and a large number of teachers responded enthusiastically Most teachers already know how to use presentation software and a number of specialized software to support teaching The design of electronic lectures based on Elearning standard form, was implemented years,it has designed more than 100 articles in all subject areas - The school has built the project of using information technology in teaching and management, selected the Google Apps platform (cloud computing) as a tool of communication and media, in order to solve the basic problems: + The contact information + The IT infrastructure (network, storage, etc.) - While waiting the process of approving and giving funds from the managing agency, school organizes the training courses on Google Apps for staff, teachers and office staff actively - Exploit the Google Apps application And the results are : + 100% of the staff, teachers and office staffs have proficient in using gmail, calendar, doc + The exchange of work,information and report among the members of the main unit through the email system, has been established + Pilot for classes (250 students)which use gmail to exchange work II Building the online classrooms, the electronic lesson banking based on E- learning standards: Make the question: - Organize the online courses is not a new problem in the world In Vietnam, some universities, colleges have make the websites, supportting online trainning - However, in the scope of high school education, the problem is not simple The reason is that the habit of self-learning, self-study is still weak A few schools also apply moodel to organize online courses, but the content is limited, the quality is not high and be heavy on formality - The question is: How to improve the problem of students' self-learning ? How to learn (listen lecture) an article more than once? How to learn with the good teachers? How to limit the negative aspect of taking after school-classes? - From the above problems, Ngo Quyen High School determines to build the online classrooms and the electronic lectures banking based on E-learning standard Some initial results - From the school year 2010 - 2011: It is not only applied for learning subjects, but also organised the thematic of extra-curricular, vocational activities, - The school has trained for all teachers to use Lecture Maker software, to design electronic lectures based on E-learning standard Currently, teachers have designed more than 120 e-lectures of all subjects III Future plans: Continue training and widely deploying Google Apps for all official staff, teachers, students of the school Complete the installation of equipment for the room of electronic lecture design (studio e-learning) and put it into use Access the Internet for all available rooms Upload the e-lectures on the school website for students to have reference conditions Continue to make , edit others e-lectures Try to held some online teaching lessons to learn from experience IV Recommendations and suggestions: Propose to the Department of Education and Training to support additional funding for procurement of equipment and funding for training and retraining of teachers, to implement the effective practical applications which support teachers and students in process of teaching and learning Offer the experienced IT professionals to advice and support for schools during the pilot Invite the experienced teachers to take part in making design,editing electronic lectures banking ,to build shared electronic lectures for secondary schools in the city ... labor for teachers, especially and record the entry points at the end of the semester, at the end of the school year - It can be applied at a higher management level, as Department of Education... trained for all teachers to use Lecture Maker software, to design electronic lectures based on E- learning standard Currently, teachers have designed more than 120 e- lectures of all subjects III... students’s management as well as the process of aggregating data are consistent, fast and accurate - The administrative management: Make sure the systems of reference,certificate are on regulation,fast
