Starting System 1.1 Features The purpose of the starting system is to use electricity from the battery and an electric motor to turn over the engine during starting. The starting system consists of the battery, a starting motor, a magnetic switch, an ignition switch, and related electrical wiring. A typical starting motor is made up of a frame and field coil assembly, an armature, a drive mechanism, a brush and holder assembly, and a magnetic switch.
