UNIT 18 : WHAT ARE YOU DOING ? Period : Lesson 2( part 2) III IV V VI Objectives : - Students will be able to consolidate deeply about vocabulary, structures - Students will identify and listen well vocabulary and structures they have learnt in specific context Language : - Vocabulary : cook, watch TV, draw a picture, listen to music, play the piano, skate - Structures : + what are you doing ? →I’m… + what’s he/she doing ? →He’s/ She’s… + where’s he/she ? →She’s/he’s in… Skills : listening, reading, speaking Teaching aids : powerpoint Time : 30 minutes Resource : Student’s book ( grade 3, page 55 ) VII Procedure : I II Contents I Teacher’s activities Warm up : lucky toy (3mins) - Aim : revise vocabulary about activities and structure “ what’s he/she doing ? ” - - - - II Listen and number(13mins) - Aim : identify and listen well structures and vocabulary Pre-listening (6 mins) Draw student’s attention( clap hands) and ask them “ Do you want to play a game ? ” Devide the class into teams to compete each other during games and activities At the end of the lesson, which team gets more points will receive a secret present Introduce the game and its rules in Vietnamese ( squares includes : lucky toy, cooking, listening to music, drawing, playing the piano, watching TV, skating ) Encourage students while playing and give feedback Student’s activities - Choose the pet and answer the question if it’s not “ lucky toy ” - Missing letters(2 mins): revise vocabulary about places( in the garden/living room, bedroom, kitchen ) - Show pictures about places with missing letters : In the g _ _ _ _ In the l _ _ _ _ _ r _ _ _ In the k _ _ _ _ _ _ - Look at the picture and answer the teacher’s questions - Look at the pictures and decribe the pictures follow teacher’s question In the b _ _ _ _ _ _ - - - Describe the picture( ones in “ listen and number ”) (3mins) - Point at the picture and ask student “ where is it? ” Show the answers and give the feedback Show pictures one by one (a,b,c,d) and ask students some questions, for example in the picture a : - + who is he ? + where’s Peter ? + what’s he doing ? Guess the answer(1mins) - - - Whilelistening( 5min s) Ask students to open their book page 55 and look at “listen and number” part Inform students they’re going to listen and number Ask one member of each team to guess the order of the pictures they listen ( after checking the answer, which team guess right will get point for their team ) - Open book page 55 and look at “ listen and number ” part - Guess the order of the picture which they’re going to listen - Listen carefully and complete the exercise Give the answer and say what listened Check the answer they have just done Compare their guess with the right answer - Afterlistening( 2min - Play the audio times Observe the class Ask students to give their answer and question them what they listened Check the answer by playing audio again Check guess and give - - s) point for team has right guess - Read aloud the conversation - Look at the picture and Devide the class into two groups to ask and answer dialogues they listened A : Where's Tony? B : He's in the living room A : What's he doing? B: He's watching TV A : Where's Mai? B : She's in her bedroom A: What's she doing? B: She's drawing a picture B : Where's Peter? A : He's in the garden III Read and match (8 mins ) - Aim : know how to question and answer when subject changes(what are you/ he/she/they doing? ) Pre-reading : Relate to children B : What's he doing? A : He's listening to music B : Where's Linda? A : She's in the kitchen B : What's she doing there? A : She's cooking experience( mins ) answer teacher’s question - Show pictutes one by one ( watching TV, playing the piano, skating, cooking ) and ask some questions : + what’s he doing ? + Do you like watching TV ? + what’s she doing ? + Do you like singing/ dancing ? Whilereading(4mins ) + How many people are there ? + what are they doing ? - Listen teacher’s instruction - Receive handout Complete the handout as fast and correct as possible Try to the handout quickly and exactly to gain point for team + what’s she doing? + Do you like cooking? - - Devide the class into groups Inform each group that they are going to get a set of handout and be asked to complete it Which group has fastest answer will get point for their team by raising their hands and say “ finished ”( reason to read ) Give the handout Observe the class Get handouts from fastest groups Ask the other group if they have finished - - Give the answer - Check their handout with the right answer Write the answer in the notebook - - Ask students to give Afterreading( 2mins ) - - - - IV Let’s sing(6mins) - Aim : relate with topic of family and relax at the end of the lesson - - their answer (teacher reads the question, student read the answer) Check the answer on slide - Work in pair to practice asking and answering - Answer the question - Listen the song - Look at the screen and read out line by line after the teacher ( with actions ) - Sing the song line by line after teacher Have student write the answer in their notebook Check the answer of fastest group and give their team point if they have right answer Ask students work in pairs( one asks and one answer follow the exercise they have just done ) Ask one or two pairs to stand up and practice each other Relate to student’s experience by asking questions : + Do you like music ? + Do you like singing? + I love my parents very much And you? - V Home work - - + Do you love your parents ? Practice the song : + Play the song and ask students to listen + Stop the song and have student look at the screen, read out line by line after teacher + Ask students to sing the song line by line after teacher ( with some actions ) + Ask students to sing the whole song ( play the video ) + Devide class into groups to practice the song Encourage students to sing the song with their parents when coming back home Remind student to revise vocabulary and structures : + Vocabulary : reading, cooking, listening to music, cleaning the floor, singing, drawing, playing the piano, - Sing the whole song - Sing the song with their parent when coming back home - Revise vocabulary and structures watching TV + Structures : • what are you doing ? → I’m… • what’s he/she doing → He/she’s… • what are they doing ? → They are… ... notebook - - Ask students to give Afterreading( 2mins ) - - - - IV Let’s sing(6mins) - Aim : relate with topic of family and relax at the end of the lesson - - their answer (teacher reads the question,... activities - Choose the pet and answer the question if it’s not “ lucky toy ” - Missing letters (2 mins): revise vocabulary about places( in the garden/living room, bedroom, kitchen ) - Show pictures...
