A semi-detached house is a house which is joined to the house next door to it Usually has a garden and often has a garage When lots of accommodation is in one building, the units are called flats or apartments There are many council flats in the U.K Terraced houses are houses which are joined together in a row along the street They are very common in London and the north of England A detached house is a house that is on its own, not joined to any other houses Usually has a garden and garage A bungalow is a house that is built all on one level It has no upstairs Bungalows are popular with older people Cottages can be found in villages in the countryside and are very quaint and often quite old
