Because the border is more porous than your grandmother ’s flour sieve For twenty years I’ve been trying to warn America about the dangers and risks associated with bringing into this country unscreened, unvaccinated immigrants Today, this lack of vigilance is causing outbreaks of “mystery diseases” and illnesses throughout the land More on that in a moment You see, Americans once enjoyed the greatest health and health care on earth But because the Obama crowd is so corrupt, not to mention ignorant about the basics of germ theory, what was once the greatest nation on earth is now on its way to “achieving” second-rate nation status Media lapdogs dutifully overlook what this illegal alien invasion of our borders is doing to the health of the country—an infestation orchestrated by the White House for political reasons We now have a growing number of cases of tuberculosis (TB), measles, dengue fever, hand-foot-and-mouth disease, and Chagas disease, all of which were previously controlled or eradicated in this country We’re also encountering new, deadly diseases previously unknown within our borders You see, for centuries America has had the protection of her geographic isolation from contagions that had never seen the light of day, be they diseases from the East or the West We’ve been blessed with geographic isolation from the viral horrors plaguing the third world Granted, some diseases have been here and were endemic, such as malaria, yellow fever, cryptosporidium, and polio Thankfully, advances in modern American medicine snuffed out many such epidemics Today, however, a number of previously conquered diseases are being reintroduced because this reckless President is hell-bent on obliterating our borders Frankly, Obama has done everything but personally driven illegals across the border in his limousine It’s a well-established fact that our United States Border Patrol agents have been reduced to “border babysitters” who have been instructed to stand down as hordes of illegals pour over the southern border In the process, illegals flood in while our agents are exposed to life-threatening diseases—and some are testing positive for viruses including H1N1 (swine flu) and chicken pox A drug-resistant strain of tuberculosis (a bacterial illness) has been introduced to Lynn, Massachusetts, courtesy of Obama’s “kids”—the hordes he brought in last summer from Central America by the trainload and then dispersed into unsuspecting communities Talk about community organizing! Don’t just take my word for it Agent Chris Cabrera, vice president of the National Border Patrol Council, told Fox News that his border agents are suddenly coming down with diseases this country hasn’t seen in decades due to the endless stream of illegals, many of whom are sick with scabies (a contagious skin infection spread by a mite parasite buried under the skin) and tuberculosis (an oftentimes fatal infectious disease which attacks the lungs) Cabrera asserts, “We had one [agent] get bacterial pneumonia a couple of days ago A lot of guys are coming down with scabies or lice from these people we’re having a lot of diseases coming in some of them we haven’t seen in decades in this country And we’re worried that they’re going to start to spread rampant throughout the United States, especially if we’re releasing people that have these diseases.”1 Translation: All of America is at risk because we have no idea where these illegal immigrants are ending up within our borders THE BIG CHILL: GOVERNMENT CENSORSHIP You may wonder why more agents don’t raise the alarm by speaking out against this situation You see, members of the Border Patrol, as well as the medical staff working with the unvaccinated illegal immigrant population, are being threatened with lawsuits, even firings, if they disclose the truth of what’s going on.2 That’s why they’re silent Think state-sponsored censorship in the Soviet Union under Stalin Or China under Chairman Mao They’ve been muzzled That same gag order is in effect at a government-run refugee camp housing illegals on the Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas According to a Fox News report, “Workers were stripped of their cellphones and other communication devices Anyone caught with a phone was immediately fired children in the camp had measles, scabies, chicken pox and strep throat as well as mental and emotional issues.”3 In spite of the threat of arrest, a handful of medical personnel who previously worked at Lackland have come forward with the shocking truth of what they saw One former worker said, “It was not a good atmosphere in terms of health I would be talking to children and lice would just be climbing down their hair.” A nurse reported, “You could see the bugs crawling through their hair After we would rinse out their hair, the sink would be loaded with black bugs.”4 There was an epidemic level of contagious disease witnessed in the camp, and the nurse became alarmed upon discovering these children had been transported to the facility on chartered buses and airplanes She said, “That’s what alerted me Oh, my God They’re flying these kids around Nobody knows that these children have scabies and lice.”5 Think about the implications of what she just said The insanity gets worse Did you know that United States congressmen were prevented from entering child immigrant facilities6 when they went to investigate this surge of infected illegal aliens racing across our broken borders? Case in point: Representative Jim Bridenstine (R-OK) was barred by guards from the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), who prevented him from touring a compound in his state where more than 1,100 children are being warehoused behind chained gates He fumed, “What are they trying to hide? Do they not want the children to speak with members of Congress?”7 Bridenstine was told to make an appointment for three weeks later Evidently, HHS officials are only comfortable with pre-planned, staged, showcased visits—much like what we saw under a certain German regime Border Agent Cabrera said, “They don’t want people to know what’s going on here, or for that matter anywhere, when it comes to the surge of illegal aliens and when [Congress] went to visit, the place was cleared out.”8 When the House Judiciary Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte (R-VA) and four other members of Congress attempted to inspect the Rio Grande Valley Sector facility, the temporary home for many illegal adults and children, the Department of Homeland (In)security (DHS) stonewalled them until they could clean out the joint Agent Cabrera described the scene: “The night before the group of lawmakers arrived the senior supervisors loaded up a couple of hundred people being held in the sally port [secure entryway] and shipped them out to Laredo If everything is so fine and dandy, why not let the lawmakers in just the way it is?”9 Why indeed Clearly HHS, DHS, and Obama don’t want you to know what’s really going on behind closed doors because if the truth were known, the public outcry would be deafening The sleeping giant would awaken and demand that this wholesale importation of illegal aliens, many whom are carrying diseases into this country, be stopped in its tracks And since the Democrats are counting on the Latino vote, they cannot afford the flow of illegals to be hindered in any way Don’t forget that their religion is liberalism; their orthodoxy is that of open borders So, if you say to them, “Wait a minute, this is a dangerous policy”—and even if you showed them the cold, hard proof that things are going badly—they’re not going to listen to you They worship at the altar of liberalism—the facts be damned Dr Jane Orient, an internal medicine specialist, put it this way: “This really should not be a political issue, but rather a public health and humanitarian issue… when you’re importing, say, up to 100,000 people who are susceptible to something like [tuberculosis or a norovirus], it affects not only those children but anyone they come in contact with.” She adds something that I’ve warned you about for years, namely, “We could very easily have a big public health catastrophe This could really put a huge burden on our public health facilities as well as just our emergency rooms for treating common diseases.”10 That prognosis also worries Dr Elizabeth Lee Vliet who, since 2009, has been studying and working on various medical projects in places like Central and South America Regarding the impact of these diseases brought here by illegal aliens, she says, “Hardest hit by exposures to these difficultto-treat diseases will be [the] elderly, children, immunosuppressed cancer patients, patients with chronic lung disease or congestive heart failure.”11 How does the liberal mind justify this unrestricted surge of illegals with the clear potentiality for the spread of various communicable diseases? House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi who, in my day, wouldn’t have met the minimum requirements necessary to run a pizza store, defends such a flagrant violation of the law by saying, “[E]very person has a spark of divinity in them [and an] opportunity to show who we are as Americans.”12 Really? Using Nancy’s twisted logic, since we all have a spark of divinity in us, does that mean we are now free to break any law that gets in our way? I told you liberalism is a mental disorder What Pelosi fails to grasp is the first rule of the science of epidemiology, namely, that you don’t bring people from an area with an infectious killing disease into a nation where it didn’t previously exist That’s suicidal What will it take for Americans to wake up to the harm that Obama and his minions are doing to this once great country? God forbid it takes a soccer mom awakening one morning only to find her daughter ’s hair is crawling with lice Worse, her little girl may come home from school testing positive for tuberculosis because one of the divinely inspired children of Nancy Pelosi was permitted to enter that classroom with TB Here’s the sad fact of the matter: That day has come KATIE BAR THE DOOR The enterovirus D-68 (EV-D68) epidemic is here It’s threatening lives in virtually all fifty states Have you heard about that one? Schoolchildren across the country are experiencing “mysterious episodes,” including increased respiratory illness and, in many cases, paralysis in their arms or legs Symptoms of EV-D68 range from flu-like indicators such as fever, runny nose, cough, sneezing and muscle aches, to trouble breathing, wheezing, paralysis—even death Since EV-D68 is a respiratory illness, this dangerous condition can spread through saliva, sneezing, or coughing What’s more, the virus may be disseminated when a healthy person touches a surface that has been touched by an infected person Worse, currently there is no antiviral medication to treat those infected NBC News reports that “more than 100 children have since been diagnosed with a side-effect called acute flaccid myelitis or acute flaccid paralysis,” adding, “most doctors hadn’t seen anything like it since polio was virtually eradicated.” That’s because EV-D68 is a “distant relative of polio, and of another enterovirus called EV-A71 that has been known to occasionally cause paralytic syndrome.”13 The Center for Disease Control (CDC) says the only way to protect ourselves is to practice proper hand washing techniques, as well as avoiding “touching your eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands” or “kissing, hugging, and sharing cups or eating utensils with people who are sick.”14 Of course, another way to protect us as a nation is to prevent infected people from entering the country and spreading it in the first place—as any sane nation would do! According to the CDC, “From mid-August to November 12, 2014, CDC or state public health laboratories have confirmed a total of 1,153 people in 49 states and the District of Columbia with respiratory illness caused by EV-D68.”15 As of this writing, according to the CDC, 14 children have died from EV-D68.16 Some are paralyzed Did you hear about this? Take, for example, young McKenzie Andersen NBC News reports this seven-year-old little girl “caught a cold just before Christmas but became mostly paralyzed from the neck down within 12 days She can wiggle her left hand, her feet and use facial muscles.”17 Her mother, Angie Andersen, is understandably devastated She said her daughter “got a cold and now she’s never going to walk again How do you ever get your mind around that?”18 Where did this virus come from? Some say EV-D68 has been in the country for decades But those of us who have studied this more carefully will tell you that this rare respiratory virus affected our children within a few weeks from the time that Obama flooded the country with more than 52,00019 unaccompanied, unscreened children from Central America Not one public health official in the entire nation will dare to ask the question: Could EV-D68 have been brought here by children with the virus heralding from Central America? Are we to believe it’s a mere coincidence that the virus is endemic in the countries from where these children originated? Consider this: upward of 75% of these children are Guatemalans, Hondurans, and Salvadorans.20 Why is their country of origin important to note? Those Central American countries are hot spots for the EV-D68 virus Let’s follow the bouncing ball Children are brought in from Central America where the EV-D68 virus is running rampant Obama welcomes them with open arms and ships them to unknown destinations in virtually all 50 states Within weeks of their arrival, the CDC has a major uptick in reported cases of a “mystery virus” which turns out to be a very rare strain of EV-D68 But the dunces at the CDC are puzzled as to how EV-D68 has spread nationwide like wildfire, and have the audacity to say that the two events (the influx of children with diseases and the spread of diseases among our children) are unrelated The director of the division of viral diseases at the CDC, whose name is unimportant, said, “We don’t have a single clear hypothesis that’s the leading one at this point.”21 Let me help out the lay scientists at the CDC with “a single clear hypothesis” of my own: Obama’s decision to permit more than 52,000 children from Central America and the simultaneous appearance of this deadly contagion is evidence that his border policy is the sole reason 12 American children are dead from EV-D68 with “unprecedented polio-like paralysis in roughly 50 kids.” It’s also put “hundreds of young American kids into hospital emergency wards and intensive care units throughout more than 40 states” as The Daily Caller has reported.22 How’s that for a hypothesis? As any enterovirus scientist can attest, all the CDC has to do to prove or disprove my hypothesis is to do a genetic analysis of the virus found in these cases and compare this with the virus profile in these other countries Look, time isn’t on our side since there isn’t a vaccine to prevent future victims of this disease I hold Obama personally responsible for the spread of EV-D68 There is no other way around this The CDC shares this responsibility Why? They should have stood up to Barack Insane Obama before he put out the welcome mat to kids from Central America They should have said, “Hell no!” to the idea of sending those infected kids across the country The CDC website presents a long list of what they’re doing now about EV-D68 While the steps noted are necessary and important, guess what’s not on that list? Preventing it from entering the country in the first place! The CDC also should have warned the public schools where these infected children were sent What do you expect to happen if you put a kid with a certain virus into a school setting where other students and teachers have never been exposed to that virus? It’s called an epidemic breakout Don’t you as a parent have the right to know if Johnny is sitting next to someone with a highly contagious disease? The fact of the matter is that the government will not release the names of the schools or districts the kids were moved to after bringing them into this country from Central America That’s why we’re seeing this virus infecting children from coast to coast Yet the hacks at the CDC are claiming they don’t know why this rhinovirus is suddenly breaking out across the country Don’t you think it would be rational to say, “Wait a minute Let’s look at these locations to see if these infected kids are in schools where Obama dumped illegal aliens?” Is it too late to save us? I’m not sure this country can survive even one more year of Obama He has escalated his assaults on every aspect of our business, economic, defense—and now our health Which is why, as you’ll see later in this book, my plan to boost your immunity is vital to your survival MEASLES: FROM MOUSELAND TO THE HOMELAND In December 2014, Disneyland in Anaheim, California, was rocked overnight by 58 new cases of the measles How did The Happiest Place on Earth become the epicenter for a highly contagious disease that had been largely eliminated from our country back in 2000?23 Within a month of the outbreak, the CDC was able to determine this outbreak likely originated from a visitor from the Middle East.24 According to CDC physician Dr Anne Schuchat, genetic tests of the measles strain affecting Americans “are similar to strains seen in Indonesia, Qatar, Azerbaijan and Dubai.”25 I bring up this case because it demonstrates how quickly and effectively epidemiology can trace the THE “Q” WORD: THE CASE FOR QUARANTINE No doubt you are familiar with the battle over whether or not America should quarantine travelers who have recently visited countries where dangerous diseases have been identified—or place restrictions on traveling to those countries in the first place This question of quarantining those who might bring an infectious disease to our country transcends the recent focus on measles, Ebola or the EV-D68 virus Since 1940, about 400 emerging infectious diseases have been identified.64 Nobody knows when the next big one will become pandemic—that is, a disease that becomes prevalent throughout an entire nation or even around the world While Ebola was raging through Africa, the most incompetent president in American history refused to create mandatory quarantines for “at risk” travelers or close the borders to all flights inbound from the Ebola-infected nations The president believes travel restrictions and/or quarantines are both unnecessary and counterproductive Striking a defiant tone, unfazed by a WHO report recommending these measures, Obama said, “We don’t just react based on our fears We react based on facts and judgment and making smart decisions.”65 By contrast, a full 80% of Americans polled by CBS News said that, yes, they wanted all legal residents and American citizens “returning from West Africa to be quarantined until it is determined that they are Ebola-free.”66 In spite of this overwhelming support for appropriate quarantine measures, Obama knew he couldn’t afford to stop flights from West Africa Why? Because then the people might ask why he isn’t also slamming the door on the flow of illegals over the southern and northern borders who may likewise be carriers of disease That we were fortunate in avoiding an Ebola outbreak in this country does not make the president right That’s not to mention the outbreaks of polio, EV-D68, tuberculosis, hand-foot-and-mouth disease, Chagas diseass and other eradicated or previously absent diseases that have occurred precisely because of the president’s immigration policies QUARANTINES PAST AND PRESENT As any epidemiologist will tell you, medical isolation and quarantine are the first responses to contain an infectious disease No wonder quarantines have been used effectively in American history, dating all the way back to the 1633 smallpox quarantine in Colonial America There was the 1799 yellow fever quarantine in Philadelphia, the 1832 and 1866 cholera quarantines in New York, and the poliomyelitis epidemic, which hit New York in 1916 and prompted a quarantine that forcibly separated parents from their children You get the picture We’ve done it before; we need to do it again I realize that suggestion may be difficult for modern ears to hear So let’s start with a little common sense If a member of your family has the viral illness known as the common cold, what do you normally do? Well, you try to avoid contact with that person Certainly, you want to avoid them sneezing on you or allowing droplets from their cough spreading anywhere in the house In other words, you both isolate and avoid contact with an infected patient How did your ancestors avoid illnesses throughout the centuries? Let's go back to the book of Leviticus in the Bible, to the days of Moses leading the Israelites through the wilderness They had very strict health rules because they had no hospitals, no isolation tents, and no antibiotics Louis Pasteur hadn’t been born yet, so they couldn’t benefit from the germ theory of disease Clearly the heads of most public health departments have forgotten or have chosen to ignore Pasteur's work They put politics ahead of everything But in the desert, the ancient Israelites were a small band with limited medical resources The leader had to figure out how to keep them healthy, so they had rules in the encampments for maintaining health—very strict rules, by the way Page after page in Leviticus addresses epidemics, which is why the Jews have made good doctors ever since ancient times Medical diagnosis and epidemic avoidance were inherent in the Jewish people and in their holy book Take leprosy, for example The Israelites weren’t quick to judge the health of a person They didn’t say, “He has this or that symptom so go ahead and throw him out of the tribe.” They were deeply into differential diagnosis to identify leprosy, and knew which steps to take immediately once a confirmed case of disease surfaced They knew they had to protect the healthy so they burned his clothes, shaved his head, and sent him to live outside of the camp in a quarantined state Furthermore, lepers were to say, “Unclean! Unclean!” as people passed by so that the disease wouldn’t spread to the unsuspecting That tradition continued down through the ages so that centuries later, even King Uzziah, who contracted leprosy, had to live in a separate house and was banned from the temple His status as king didn’t give him special treatment He remained in quarantine until he died I know that might sound harsh to modern ears But unlike the PC crowd today, nobody back then ever said, “What about the feeeeelings of the leper if we toss him out of the village? Won’t his selfesteem be hurt?” We’re living in an upside down world Everything is topsy-turvy We laugh at the wisdom of the ages We’re smarter than Leviticus—which is why we are supposed to put the person with a plague and his feelings ahead of those who have no plague Mark my words: If the CDC had been in charge back then, they would have said, “Look, it’s okay if 30% of us get wiped out because we don't want the leper to have hurt feelings.” THE MYTH OF SELF-QUARANTINE While New Jersey and New York initially imposed mandatory quarantines for travelers from Ebola hot spots, the Obama administration issued guidelines which did little more than invoke the honor system, also known as “voluntary self-quarantine.” After intense pressure from the White House, both New Jersey Gov Chris Christie and New York Gov Andrew Cuomo later amended their mandatory quarantine policies to allow for a less intrusive, in-home, self-quarantine approach That, my friend, is a dangerous mistake Are we really supposed to place our confidence in the goodwill of fellow citizens, who may be carriers of Ebola, to abide by voluntary quarantine guidelines? Two noteworthy examples suggest this foolish approach puts our nation at significant risk for an Ebola outbreak Take the case of Dr Craig Spencer, a volunteer with Doctors Without Borders, who returned from working with patients in Africa for a month While I certainly commend anyone who would travel to help Ebola victims at great personal risk, shouldn’t these volunteers also care about bringing the disease back home? In the case of Dr Spencer, he arrived at the JFK airport, where his temperature was normal Given his travel history, he was supposed to remain self-quarantined at home for 21 days Several days later, the 33-year-old doctor woke up with a fever, nausea, and stomach pains and was rushed to the hospital, where they determined he had Ebola He initially told authorities he had been self-quarantined It turns out that wasn’t the case Detectives discovered he had traveled extensively throughout the Big Apple via the L, A, and 1 trains, ate at several restaurants, and went bowling.67 Thankfully, this man has survived the virus, though at great cost A biohazard cleanup company had to be called to decontaminate the bowling alley and the restaurants due to his irresponsible violation of the self-quarantine directive—not to mention setting the entire city on edge once news of his excursions around town came to light Left wing Senator Charles Schumer demanded the federal government reimburse the city of New York for the cost of treating this one patient The cost? Twenty million dollars! That’s what happens when you use the honor system approach Which brings us to the infamous Kaci Hickox, a headline-grabbing nurse, who was originally quarantined in New Jersey after working with Ebola patients in Sierra Leone She was ultimately allowed to return to her home in Maine under a state “voluntary quarantine” and was ordered to remain there to live out the balance of her 21-day Ebola incubation period By any measure, that was a reasonable compromise to avoid an Ebola outbreak Instead, thumbing her nose at state health officials, she violated the quarantine on several occasions —including a highly publicized bike ride Still livid at Gov Christie’s quarantine directives, Hickox said, “If he knew anything about Ebola he would know that asymptomatic people are not infectious.”68 Really? Does the name Typhoid Mary ring any bells? That’s the name given to Mary Mallon, the first asymptomatic carrier of typhoid fever identified in the United States In 1883, Mary immigrated to the U.S from Ireland when she was just 15 years old, and eventually infected more than a thousand people with typhoid Keep in mind that, by definition, asymptomatic means she showed no outward symptoms of the disease In her view, since she didn’t show signs of typhoid, she couldn’t have been a carrier The fact of the matter is that you can be a carrier of a disease while being symptom-free, whether you have typhoid, polio, or whatever Clinically speaking, this is known as “inapparent infection.”69 It turns out that Mary, a cook for several families in New York City from 1900 to 1907, didn’t practice a proper hand-washing regimen and left a trail of infected people in her wake When the asymptomatic Mary went to work for a banker in Ithaca, New York, in 1903, “Typhoid struck the house, spread, and became an epidemic Mary fled, but she left 1,300 victims.”70 Ultimately, the New York City Health Department sent police officers to take her into custody for a mandatory quarantine—first in prison and later at an isolated clinic on North Brother Island While incarcerated, doctors discovered billions of the typhoid bacteria germ cells were hatching in her gallbladder every day! Three years later, the state health commissioner had compaaaasion and decided she shouldn’t be kept in isolation Typhoid Mary was released—as long as she agreed never to work again as a cook Mary took all of three months to break her self-quarantine parole She changed her name and worked once again as a cook, causing several other outbreaks and more deaths The woman was a walking killer who lived in denial that she played any part in typhoid cases Authorities had her rearrested in 1915 and placed into quarantine until she died in 1938 It was later determined that the virus was present in her stool samples, and due to her lack of proper hand-washing techniques, the disease spread to the food she cooked and served which, in turn, infected those whom she fed Bottom line? The use of a voluntary self-quarantine policy against the threat of an outbreak may be a politically expedient idea, but it’s lousy public policy—assuming your goal is to keep the healthy from infection FLY THE INFECTED SKIES? Nobody wants to spark public hysteria over traveling on airplanes This is why it makes sense to restrict travelers who have visited hot spots for dangerous diseases from re-entering the U.S via commercial flights until they have been properly screened As Dr Lee Hieb, past president of the Association of American Physicians and Surgeons, said during the Ebola crisis, “You don’t get Ebola from Europe You get Ebola from Africa And it’s a really simple formula: Don’t let people fly to America if they’ve been to areas where there’s an outbreak When there’s an outbreak, stop air [traffic] flow.”71 That advice doesn’t sit well with several airlines, which claim they don’t have the necessary computer software to flag travelers if a travel ban existed One airline official stated, “If there’s a broken itinerary we wouldn’t be aware of where the customer is coming from.”72 From the White House on down, our leaders on both sides of the aisle don’t have the spine to seal the borders or, at the very least, establish a mandatory quarantine process to ensure our country is protected against the next potential epidemic They’re so trapped in their ideologies that they are unable to perform their first duty: to protect public health And so the question is not how to deal with a government that is so out of control that it doesn’t care about the people who depend on it to protect them from such health threats The question is: What we the people to protect ourselves? There used to be an adage in the ’70s that said, “When leaders won’t lead the people, the people must lead the leaders.” That is why I wrote this book It is my plan to boost your immune system, avoid
