doors after installing and routing all cables and fibers Refer to Chapter 12 "Installing the Doors of the Cabinet" This chapter guides you to install and route fiber jumpers The fiber jumpers of the OptiX OSN 3500 are divided into internal fiber jumpers and external fiber jumpers Internal fiber jumpers are used for connecting optical interfaces within a cabinet While external fiber jumpers are used for connecting optical interfaces of a cabinet with those of other cabinets or peripherals The following table lists the contents of this chapter Section Description 8.1Fiber Jumpers Describes Technologies Proprietary OptiX OSN 3500 Installation Manual 10 Installing and Routing Fiber Jumpers 8.1 Fiber Jumpers The fiber jumpers are used to connect the optical boards on one subrack with those in other cabinets or other equipment All fiber jumpers can be transferred by an external optical distribution frame (ODF) Figure 1.1 shows the connectors used for the OptiX OSN 3500 Protective cap corrugated pipe is used to protect the fibers between the cabinet and the ODF 10.1.2 The Fiber Hole and Corrugated Pipe The Fiber Hole There are fiber holes on the top and bottom of the cabinet Route the fiber jumpers through the fiber holes Figure 1.1 and Figure 1.2 show the fiber holes Fiber hole Fiber hole Figure 1.1 Fiber holes on the top of the cabinet Fiber hole Fiber hole Figure 1.2 Fiber holes on the bottom of the cabinet The Corrugated Pipe When routing fiber jumpers outside the cabinet, a corrugated pipe or a winding pipe must be added for protecting the fiber jumpers One corrugated pipe can contain 12–15 pieces of fiber jumpers One 12 mm winding pipe can wind thirty pieces of fiber jumpers, while one mm winding pipe can wind eighteen pieces Issue 05 (2006-11-20) Huawei Technologies Proprietary OptiX OSN 3500 Installation Manual 10 Installing and Routing Fiber Jumpers In this section the corrugated pipe is taken as an example Appropriate length of the corrugated pipe is required This length is the distance from the cabinet to the ODF plus the length the pipe will extend into the cabinet and the ODF (so long as the fiber jumpers not touch the upper beam when routing inside the cabinet) 10.1.3 Procedure for Upward Cabling Purpose This procedure guides you to connect and route the fiber jumpers between the subrack and the ODF Tools/Materials Corrugated pipe or winding pipe Binding strap Labels Prerequisites The ODF in the equipment room has been installed properly, with interfaces reserved for use Required/As needed Required if the fiber jumpers are upward routed Caution The bend radius of the fiber jumper must be greater than its minimum curvature radius Specifically, the minimum curvature radius for the mm fiber jumper is 40 mm, and that for the mm fiber jumper is 60 mm  Note Routing the fiber jumpers on the right of the cross-connect and timing board is taken as an example in the description below Routing on the left side is the same
