Topic 2: services nowadays We are living better than our ancients were in the past. I believe, and appreciate highly the developing of technique and services we enjoy nowadays. No one can say that they live without services. If they said that, it would mean they bring themselves out of the society. In other words, services are one part of the economics, they help people allocate something they want with little effort. Now I have an interesting imagination that all services go out, and what will happen? We must go from one country to another on foot, we must look after our children by ourselves, we must look at the stars on the night sky instead of watching Brad Pitt in his films.And many things we will lose because of denying services. So you can see how important services play in our lives, we can’t live without it. In this essay, I want to talk about some services, not all, and find out some key changes of them in these years gone by. First, I want to mention to the banking system. In the past, you must wait for over 2 hours to open an account or to draw your money out. At that time, paper work needs more time than now, and the services staff are not enthusiastic partly because of the government’s subsidizing. They paid the same salary to the enthusiastic employee as well as the lazy employee, so it kills the incentives that motivate every one try their best. It’s also the cause why I didn’t want to do paper work or to go to the bank. But now every thing has changed like an adage:” today is not like yesterday, and tomorrow is not like today”. Banking system now is based on the enthusiastic staff, and many banks were established. Going for a walk along Tran Nguyen Han street then take a turn to To Hieu street, your eyes will catch many banks; and try making a visit for opening an account for example, you’ll see how they work. Very professional. And the staff! Very beautiful, very polite. They do every thing about some minutes, if there’re something you don’t understand, they will instruct you how to do. I love going to the banks now. Second, may be I’ll give the attention to shopping service- one thing necessary to the household concern and especially to the women-the shopaholics. You have some money and you are worrying what to buy, which price to pay. Nowadays you don’t need to ask such questions, we have the modern shopping system through out our country. In Big C or Metro, you’ll be shock when seeing their huge amount and the various kinds of goods at the first time. The mothers and sisters will spend most of their time at Big C, and I’m sure their husbands will find a hole in their pocket. Be careful with shopaholics. But is it good or bad? I think both of them. In the past, we have market place; I still remember how wonderful I felt when going to the market place with my mum. We often have the market day- in Sunday as usual. Here we can make a bargain with the sellers, and it’s like an award if you buy something at the low price after the effort of bargaining. In Big C, you never have the feeling of bargaining because all the prices are determined and written clearly on the wrapping except in the case of purchase encouragement campaign. And one thing many people don’t take into account, it’s that all the big shopping system like Big C or Metro belonging to the foreign company. If you buy their products , it means you directly distort the inner shopping industry. That’s why our shopping industry always play the role of loser in the internationally competitive world. In conclusion, I think services always help our lives easier and more comfortable. I’m happy to live in the world today, and services make me desire to live longer to enjoy it.
