Diễn tả hành động có thật ở hiện tại: S + V(ses) + as ifas though + S + V(ses) Ví dụ: He appears to run from a fierce dog. → It looks as if as though he runs from a fierce dog. (Nó trong như thể là anh ta muốn chạy thoát khỏi con chó dữ tợn kia.) Diễn tả hành động không có thật ở hiện tại: S + V(ses) + as if as though + S + V2ed (be > were) Ví dụ: It’s very cold today. It looks as ifas though it were autumn now. (Hôm nay trời rất lạnh như thể bây giờ đang là mùa thu vậy.) Diễn tả hành động không có thật ở quá khứ: S + V2ed + as ifas though + S + had + V3ed Ví dụ: The whole building was seriously damaged. It looks as if it had been destroyed by bombs. (Toàn bộ toàn đã bị sụp nghiêm trọng như thể nó đã bị phá hủy bởi bom.)
