Mike & Katie! It's nice to have you here! Your works are all so cute & colorful! How Please introduce yourself & TADO to our readers! you start a character? Do they all have their own story? Which character is your favorite? Hi! TADO is our partnership, we specialise in Illustration, Character Design, Animation, Toy Design, thankyou! we really try to draw new characters all and all kinds of other rubbish as well! the time - sometimes they come easily, sometimes We've been trying to think of an interesting story its more tricky! we usually start with an idea for a about what 'TADO' means, unfortunately the boring particular part, like the eyes, or shape for the head truth is that it's just parts of our surnames put or something like that we then draw the rest of the together!! how embarrassing! 14 How did you two get together?? Tell us a little bit romance? XD We met at University back in 2001 when a Uni tutor of ours suggested we try working together We hit it off straight away and have been inseperable since! These days we live and work together in our home in sheffield Its nice and we eat lots of nice things!! character around this element its not always that simple though! :):) some of our characters have stories, it depends on what they are being used for quite often they will have stories and relationships with the characters around them but we dont go out of our way to explain this too much we like to hear other people's interpretations of them! We're afraid we dont have particular favourites - it changes every week! What inspires you the most? Our friends! we are very lucky to have some extremely talented friends knowing people who are busy and active doing things they love keeps us excited and motivated 15 Designer's Circle | Design & Life minizine As a duo, you fight sometimes? over different opinions?? Of course! we tend to squabble a lot and bicker about work stuff because we know each other so well we are like an old husband and wife! haha! we are each others harshest work critics so often we will disagree Which project so far is your favorite? Could you with each others ideas and have to find ways to work introduce it a little bit? around them if we can't find a peaceful solution then its fistycuffs! hehehe! We really cant pick out one particular favourite - we're Personally though, we've never had a proper very fortunate that we enjoy pretty much all our work! argument and rarely argue despite living and working Often its the people we get to work with rather than together 24-7! the artwork itself that make the project a favourite with us That said, some of our personal highlights would be the Smart Car project (most excellent people to work with!), The Intermix Exhibition Project, our 'Purity' animation, and more recently some work we've just finished for a branding agency in London called Communicator The communicator project was one of the bigger projects we've taken on - it involved a re-brand of the company and then the accompanying website as well The client was pretty much happy for us to go nuts with stuff and wanted a rich and crazy flash site The theme for the project was 'channeled energy' so we created a world that revolved around the process of growing and developing ideas, as well as ecology We teamed up with some really good friends of ours Unwrong who did all the hardcore coding and such which gave the little guys who inhabit the site world artificial intelligence The site is set to go live in the next few weeks, we're very excited to see it happen! 16 Do you cook? What is your comfort food? We aren't the most amazing cooks in the world, but we know how to make a mean pie - we tend to prefer the eating side of things though!
