DIRECT AND INDIRECT SPEECH (Câu trực tiếp và câu gián tiếp) Commands and requests in reported speech (Câu mệnh lệnh và câu yêu cầu ở lời nói gián tiếp) Khi tường thuật 1 mệnh lệnh hay 1 yêu cầu của ai,chúng ta thường dùng động từ tường thuật TELL (bảo),ASK (yêu cầu),ORDER,COMMAND (ra lệnh),WARN (cảnh giác) . tuỳ theo tính chất của câu.Thêm 1 bổ ngữ vào sau động từ nếu chưa có. A/ Affirmative commands,requests (Mệnh lệnh ,yêu cầu xác đònh) (Please) V + O / A  S + told . + O + TO.V + O / A Ex: Tim said to his younger brother:”Clean the bike.” (Tim nói với em trai:”Hãy lau xe đạp”)  Tim told his younger brother to clean the bike. B/ Negative commands,requests (Mệnh lệnh,yêu cầu phủ đònh) (Please) Don’t + V + O / A  S + told . + O + NOT TO.V + O / A Ex: The mother said:”Don’t play with matches.” (Mẹ nói:”Đừng chơi với diêm quẹt”)  The mother warned her child not to play with matches. C/ Notes: Những cấu trúc khác của câu yêu cầu: Would / Will + S + (not) + V + O / A,please? Could / Can + S + (not) + V + O / A,please? Would you mind + (not) + V.ing + O / A? Ex: He said:”Would you turn on the fan,please?” (Anh ấy nói:”Xin vui lòng mở quạt.”)  He told me to turn on the fan. Advice in reported speech (lời khuyên ở lời nói gián tiếp) Khi tường thuật 1 lời khuyên,ta dùng động từ tường thuật ADVISE (khuyên),RECOMMEND (khuyên) . 1. S + should / ought to / had better + V + O / A 2. Why don’t + you + V + O / A ?  S + advised + O + (not) TO.V + O / V 3. If I were . ,I’d (not) + V + O / V Ex: Tom said to his brother:”You’d better work hard for the exam.” (Tom nói với em trai:”Em nên học chăm cho kỳ thi.”  Tom advised his brother to study hard for exam.  (Tom told his brother (that) he’d better work hard for the exam.) (1) (2) (3) (4) (5) (6) @ The ways to change: 1. Đổi động từ giới thiệu Said  Said Said to  Told 2. Đổi dấu phẩy hay dấu hai chấm trước câu trực tiếp thành THAT và bỏ dấu trích dẫn.THAT thường được bỏ nhất là trong văn nói. 3. Đổi các đại từ nhân xưng và tính từ sở hữu theo qui tắc: * Ngôi thứ nhất (I/we/me/us/my/our) đổi theo ngôi của chủ tư của mệnh đề tường thuật. I  he/she we  they my  his/her our  their me  him/her us  them * Ngôi thứ hai (you/your) đổi theo ngôi của túc từ của mệnh đề tường thuật. you  I/we/he/she/they you  me/us/him/her/them your  my/our/his/her/their * Ngôi thứ ba (he/she/it/they/his/her/it/their) không đổi. 4. (1) (2)(3) (4) (5) (6) @ The way to change: 1. * Đổi động từ giới thiệu SAID TO thành ASKED và thêm 1 bổ ngữ vào sau dộng từ nếu chưa có.Nếu động từ giới thiệu là ASKED thì giữ nguyên. * Bỏ dấu phẩy,hai chấm,dấu trích dẫn và dấu chấm hỏi. 2. * Nếu câu hỏi trực tiếp bắt đầu bằng 1 nghi vấn từ (WHO,WHAT,WHERE,WHEN,WHY ) thì ta giữ lại nó trong câu gián tiếp. * Nếu câu hỏi trực tiếp không bắt đầu bằng nghi vắn từ thì ta dùng liên từ IF hay WHETHER (xem,có hay không) để giới thiệu 1 câu hỏi gián tiếp. 3. Đổi đại từ nhân xưng và tính từ sở hữu 4. Đổi thì 5. Đổi từ chỉ nơi chốn và thời gian. (1) (2) (3) (4) Ex: Mr Brown said to Ali:”Don’t touch anything in this room!” (Ông Brown nói với Ali:”Đừng chạm vào thứ gì trong phòng này.”  Mr Brown ordered Ali not to touch anything in that room. @ The way to change: 1. * Đổi động từ giới thiệu SAID (TO) thành TOLD,ORDERED,ASKED tuỳ theo tính chất của câu.Thêm bổ ngữ vào sau động tùe nếu chưa có. * Bỏ dấu phẩy,hai chấm,dấu trích dẫn,từ PLEASE và dấu chấm than,nếu có. 2. * Nếu động từ trong câu yêu cầu hay mệnh lệnh ở hình thức xác đònh,ta đổi thành TO.V * Nếu động từ trong câu yêu cầu hay mệnh lệnh ở hình thức phủ đònh,ta đổi thành NOT TO.V 3.
