6LESSON PLAN Teacher’s name: Nguyen Thi Thanh Trang Class: 11A9 Unit 11: SOURCES OF ENERGY Instructor: VU CAM THU Lesson E: Language Focus I Objectives: By the end of this lesson, Ss will be able to:     Distinguish the sounds /ʃr/, /spl/, /spr/ Pronounce the words and sentences containing these sounds correctly Review relative clause Use participle and to-infinitive to replace relative clause II Teaching methods: deductive methods, communicative approach (T asks – Ss answer) III Teaching aids: textbook, projector, handout, cards IV.Procedure: UNIT 11: SOURCES OF ENERGY Language Focus Time Teacher’s activities and students’ activities WARM-UP: - T shows pictures Content Questions: What is it? - Ss guess what these pictures are about by answering questions 5’ A shrimp What season may it be? Spring What they do? Split - T repeats main words then elicits to sounds /ʃr/, /spl/, /spr/ I PRONUNCIATION: - T models each of these sounds: /ʃr/, /spl/, /spr/ for a few times T reminds Ss how to pronounce sounds ( pronounce the first sound and move to the second sound quickly) -T gets the Ss to repeat in chorus 5’ - T pronounces the words in each column out loud in chorus and helps Ss pronounce these words - T calls on some Ss to pronounce these words - T has Ss practice reading aloud the sentences on page 131 II GRAMMAR: Relative clauses replaced by participles and to infinitives Relative clauses replaced by present participles (V-ing): 32’ - T shows an example and lets Ss turn this example into a relative clause - T calls on one S to report the answer orally talking - T checks the answer with the whole class The girl is my best friend She talked to me yesterday =>The girl who/that talked to me yesterday is Relative clause in active voice my best friend =>The girl who/that talked to me yesterday is - T notes that with relative clause in my best friend active voice, we can omit the The girl talking to me yesterday is my best relative pronoun and turn the main verb into the present participle form friend The boy who is playing the piano is Ben (v-ing) - T help Ss reduce the example by using participles - T lets Ss other examples - After minutes, T calls on some Ss to report their answers - T helps Ss produce the form => The boy playing the piano is Ben Do you know the man who is coming towards us? =>Do you know the man coming towards us?
