No, I’m not / Yes,I am → Am/ Is/ Are + Subject + V-ing ? No, Subject + am/are/is + not Yes, Subject + am/are/is *Note: Question words: What/Which/Where/How… Ex: What are you doing now? V-ing Basic rule Exception Exception Exception Just add -ing to the base verb: work → working play → playing If the base verb ends in consonant + stressed vowel + consonant, double the last letter: stop → stopping run → running If the base verb ends in ie, change the ie to y: lie → lying die → dying If the base verb ends in vowel + consonant + e, omit the e: come → coming mistake → mistaking *Note: We don’t use this tense with the following verbs: be, see, hear, understand, know, like , want , glance, feel, think, smell, love hate, realize, seem, remmber, forget, Ex: I’m tired now II Uses  To describe an action that is going on at this moment Ex: You are using the Internet  To describe an action that is going on during this period of time or a trend Ex: Are you still working for the same company?
