Cách làm tập "CÂU ĐIỀU KIỆN" Câu điều kiện tiếng anh Cấp độ Loại 1: Công thức : IF S + V (hiện tại) , S + WILL ( CAN, MAY) + V (nguyên mẫu) Cách dùng: Chỉ việc xảy tương lai Ví dụ: If it is sunny, I will go fishing ( trời nắng, câu) Loại 2: Công thức : IF S + V (quá khứ) , S + WOULD ( COULD, MIGHT ) + V (nguyên mẫu) ( be dùng were dù chủ từ số hay nhiều ) Cách dùng: Chỉ việc khó xảy tương lai Ví dụ: If I were you, I would go abroad ( bạn, nước ngoài) Chuyện xảy đâu thể biến thành bạn Loại 3: Công thức : IF S +HAD +P.P , S + WOULD ( COULD, MIGHT ) HAVE + P.P Cách dùng: Chỉ việc không xảy khứ Ví dụ: If I hadn’t been absent yesterday, I would have met him ( hôm qua không vắng mặt gặp rồi) => thực vắng mặt LƯU Ý: + Unless = if … not : + Bên mệnh đề có if, chữ had loại 3, chữ were loại chữ should loại đem đầu câu cho if ( chữ should dùng loại với nghĩa làm cho câu mơ hồ hơn) Ví dụ: - If he should call, … ( mà có gọi, … ) => có gọi hay không = Should he call,… ( mà có gọi, … ) - If I were you, … = Were I you, … - If she had gone there, … = Had she gone there,… Các dạng tập câu điều kiện (cấp độ bản) 1) Dạng chia động từ: - Ở cấp độ thông thường người ta chia vế cho nên em việc quan sát xem loại mà áp dụng công thức cho Ví dụ: If I meet him, I (give) him this book - Nhìn thấy câu đề cho bên if nên ta biết loại nên ta chia loại 1: If I meet him, I will give him this book - Cũng có trường hợp khó người ta đóng ngoặc hai bên Trong trường hợp trước tiên em xem việc có phải xảy khứ không, Nếu phải chia loại 3, dấu hiệu khứ em phải dịch nghĩa : thấy khả khó có khả xảy dùng loại 2, có khả xảy dùng loại Ví dụ: If he (go) there yesterday, he (meet) her - Thấy có dấu hiệu khứ (yesterday) nên ta chia loại 3: If he had gone there yesterday, he would have met her I (go) there if I (be) you - Không có dấu hiệu khứ nên ta dịch nghĩa: bạn => chuyện xảy nên dùng loại 2: I would go there if I were you 2) Dạng viết lại câu dùng IF: - Dạng người ta cho câu riêng biệt nối với chữ : so = that’s why (vì thế), because ( ) - Đối với dạng em thấy : Cả câu chia tương lai dùng loại (không phủ định) Một bên tại, bên tương lai / dùng loại (phủ định) Nếu có khứ dùng loại (phủ định) Ghi chú: Phủ định câu đề có not ta dùng not ngược lại Nếu có because để if vị trí because Nếu có so, that’s why để if ngược với vị trí chúng Ví dụ: I will go there I will buy you a dog => If I go there, I will buy you a dog I can’t go out because it is raining => If it weren’t raining, I could go out ( người ta can dùng, không đổi thành will ) 3) Dạng viết lại câu đổi từ câu có if sang dùng unless: Unless vào chỗ chữ if, bỏ not, vế giữ nguyên Ví dụ: If you don’t speak loudly, he won’t hear Unless… => Unless you speak loudly, he won’t hear 4) Dạng viết lại câu đổi từ câu có without sang dùng if : Dùng if… not…., bên giữ nguyên ( tùy theo nghĩa mà có câu cụ thể) Ví dụ: Without your help, I wouldn’t pass the exam ( giúp đỡ bạn ,… ) If you didn’t help, I wouldn’t pass the exam ( bạn không giúp,… ) Without water, we would die ( nước,… ) If there were no water, we would die ( nước, ) 5) Dạng viết lại câu đổi từ câu có Or, otherwise sang dùng if : Dạng thường có cấu trúc câu mệnh lệnh + or, otherwise + S will … Cách làm sau: If you don’t ( viết lại, bỏ or, otherwise ) Ví dụ: Hurry up, or you will be late ( nhanh lên, không bạn trễ) If you don’t hurry, you will be late ( bạn không nhanh lên, bạn trễ) 6) Dạng viết lại câu đổi từ câu có But for sang dùng if : Dùng : if it weren’t for cho but for, phần lại giữ nguyên Ví dụ: But for your help, I would die If it weren’t for your help, I would die Các dạng câu điều kiện ám chỉ: Provided (that), providing (that) ( miễn ) = if In case = phòng KHI NÀO DÙNG WILL/WOULD SAU IF ? Will đứng sau if : Thông thường không dùng tương lai đơn với will sau if Tuy nhiên, dùng đến, người ta dùng hình thức muốn nhấn mạnh đến ý " mà sau này" Hãy so sánh: If it suits you, I will change the date of our meeting anh thấy thuận tiện đổi ngày họp lại If it will suit you, I will change the date of our meeting anh thấy thuận tiện ( mà sau ) đổi ngày họp lại Will would đứng sau if : - Muốn nhấn mạnh đến lòng không lòng: + Khi yêu cầu người khác làm việc gì/ đáp ứng đề nghị giúp đỡ Ví dụ : Shall I hold the door open for you ? anh có muốn để cửa mở cho anh không? Yes, if you will/would vâng, xin anh vui lòng Ví dụ : If you will/would/could wait a moment, I will fetch the money anh vui lòng chờ chút, lấy tiền + Khi nói người khác: If he will/would/could only try harder, I am sure he'd well: chịu cố gằng nữa, thành công + Trong hình thức lịch mạch văn trang trọng: Ví dụ 1: I'd be grateful if you will/would let me know soon.: lấy làm biết ơn ông vui lòng cho biết sớm Ví dụ 2: If you will/would follow me, I will show you the way anh chịu theo tôi đường cho anh + Trong câu nói trực tiếp lòng/ không lòng Ví dụ 1: If you will/would agree to pay us compensation, We will/would agree not to take the matter any further : anh chịu bồi thường cho lòng không đá động đến vấn đề Ví dụ 2: If you won't stop smoking, you can only expect to have a bad cough : anh không chịu ngưng hút thuốc anh anh bị ho CÂU ĐIỀU KIỆN NÂNG CAO: Dùng were to bên mệnh đề có if: Để diễn tả hoàn cảnh tưởng tượng tương lai: Ví du: If the government were to cut V.A.T, prices would fall (Tưởng tưởng cho thư giản trang thời buổi “gạo châu củi quế” ) If he were to win the game, he would be rich (Tưởng tượng không dễ thắng đâu) Để đề nghị cách lịch sự: Ví dụ: If you were to ask him, he might help you (Nếu bạn mà nhờ đến giúp bạn) If you were to move over, we could all sit on the sofa Lưu ý: Công thức không áp dụng cho động từ tình trạng như: know, like, remember, understand… Ví dụ: If I were to remember… ( sai) If I remembered… ( đúng) Trong công thức were đem if, có not không đem not theo mà phải để lại sau chủ từ Ví dụ: Weren’t the government to cut… (sai) Were the government not to cut… (đúng) Dùng it was/were not for + noun bên mệnh đề if Người ta dùng cấu trúc để diễn tả hoàn cảnh lệ thuộc vào hoàn cảnh hay người khác Ví dụ: If it were not for you, I would die (Nếu bạn “tiêu” rồi) Đối với chuyện khứ ta dùng: if it hadn’t been for… Các em dùng but for để thay công thức mà không thay đổi nghĩa: Ví dụ: If it were not for you,… = but for you,… Phân biệt if ….not unless: Thông thường, cấp độ em thay if… not unless Tuy nhiên, cấp độ nâng cao em gặp trường hợp chúng thay Không thể dùng unless thay cho if not trường hợp sau: Trong tình không thật (thường câu loại 3) Ví dụ: She would be a good friend if she were not selfish She would be a good friend unless she were selfish (sai) If he had not been absent, he would have known that Unless he had been absent, he would have known that (sai) Khi nói cảm xúc: I will be disappointed, if you don’t pass the exam I will be disappointed, unless you pass the exam (sai) Trong hầu hết câu hỏi: Ví dụ: What you think if I don’t come? What you think unless I come? (sai) Không thể dùng if not thay cho unless trường hợp sau: Khi ta nhắc đến việc qua với nhận xét Cách nhận tình có dấu gạch nối trước unless Ví dụ: I couldn’t have gone to school on time – unless I had got up earlier (Tôi học giờ- Trừ dậy sớm hơn.) Trong tình này, thực tế không học không dậy sớm So sánh với câu dùng if not I couldn’t have gone to school on time, if I had not got up earlier (Tôi học không thức dậy sớm hơn) Trong trường hợp thực tế dậy sớm học Nghĩa hoàn toàn ngược với câu Khi ta nói xong câu, sau thêm vào ý Trường hợp phải có dấu gạch nối Ví dụ: Because my secretaty is in the hospital, the work can’t continue – Unless you take up her position, of course (Vì thư kí nằm viện, công việc tiếp tục – Dĩ nhiên trừ cô thay vị trí cô ấy.)
