Lesson plan – Le Thanh Lam Giáo án WEEK 20 – PERIOD 58 UNIT 9: UNDERSEA WORLD-Writing • • • OBJECTIVES Educational aim: Students should appreciate the nature Knowledge General knowledge: Students learn about the nature Language New words: Words related to the nature, especially to whales Skills: Reading for describing information about the sperm whale, then write a paragraph about the dolphin METHOD: Integrated, mainly communicative TEACHING AIDS: pictures of whales and dolphins PROCEDURE Teacher’s Activities Student’s Activities Warm-up (4 mn) Teacher shows a few pictures and ask Ss work in pairs questions: Students’ answers 1) What is this / are these? 2) Which one you like better? 1) It is a dolphin/ a sperm whale, 2) I / we like….better Pre-writing (8 mn) T: Work with partner Read the table in page 100 to know what information about sperm whale you have to find out Now read the passage in page 99 and answer the questions: Where does the sperm whale live? How big / long is a sperm whale? What sperm whales eat to live? How often does a female sperm whale give birth? How long is a sperm whale’s life span What are their specials features?
