Vocabulary: • • • Parts of the house; Furniture; Home appliances Grammar / Language functions: • • • Yes/no questions; Wh-questions; Have got; You need: • one board game (page 1); • questions cards (pages – 5) printed in different colours to match with the symbols on the board; • a die; • a marker for each player in the group (Each group should not have more than people: ideally 3-4 people) or OHP markers Instructions: • Each student/player puts their marker in the centre of the board (Start square) • The first player rolls a die They can move vertically, up and down, or horizontally, left or right, the number of squares indicated by the number on the die • The rest of the group moves as the first one • On the following round, the players must move the other way (That is, if they moved vertically, now they move horizontally and vice versa) • If the player comes to the edge of the board, they keep counting back • Students play until all the squares have been taken Aim of the game: • Collect as many squares as possible and the most points Counting the points: • Players win a square by arriving first to a square and answering the question correctly The students make their mark in the square and win points • The students arriving to a marked square only win point (if they answer the question correctly) • At the end of the game (when the board is full), students count their points and the person with the most points wins You can: • adapt the board to other topics / language functions by changing the cards; • use the question cards for other activities Rules can be adapted!
