Presentation * Set the scene : Ba invited lan to his home village * Pre- teach; vocabulary: Banyan tree (n) : ( picture) Shrine (n) : ( picture) River bank (n) : explaination -Checking Rub out and remember Structure Review “wish” Present “wish”: S + wish(es) + A clause ( in the past) * T/F Prediction 1.Thao and her family had a two day trip to their home village Many people like going there for their weekends There is a small bamboo forest at the ertrance to 4.Lan had a snack at the house of Ba’s uncle 5.There is a shine on the mountain near Ba’s uncle 6.Everyone left the village late in the evening Everyone had a picnic on the mountain 8.Liz had a videotape to show the trip to her parents 9.Liz wants to go there again Practice : – Play the tape – Let ss read silently and check T/F – Read the text again and answer part b – Let ss work in pairs – Teacher corrects and gives the keys Production Unit 3: A TRIP TO THE COUNTRYSIDE Lesson : Speak I-Objectives: By the end of the lesson ,SS will be able toimprove their speak skill by asking and getting information about village II-Teaching aids: Extra – board , poster III-Procedure : 1.Warm up: - Ask ss to give the main ideas in the test about Ba’s village -Ask ss to make sentences with there phrases Eg: Ba’s village is to the north of Ha Noi Pre – speaking : - Sets the sence : talk about home village - Hangs on the extra – board with questions on page 24 on BB -Reviews W-H questions ( How far….? How long…?) -Explains the meaning of questions 3-While – speaking : - Asks ss to look at question and then look at the yellow box -Asks ss to practice in pair the example once ( pink box ) - Asks ss to make a pair of sentences Ex: How far is it from the city ? It’s 30 kilometres from the city • Mapped dialogue : • - Divide class into two group : Group A and Group B -Introduces the situation : A student plays the role of the asher, and a student plays the role of student A ( or student B ) - Asks ss to make the dialogue using questions and the information about A’village -Asks ss to look at the map on BB ( not textbook ) and practice the dialogue in pairs Asker A Where? South of city How far? 30 km from the city How to get there by bus How long to get there ? 1hour Group B : ( similar to group A , but they practice whith B’ s information - Asks one or two pairs of each group to practice in from class - Feedback ( correct mistakes if necessary) - Asks ss to make a table similar to A or B with their own village’s information • Interview : -Ask ss to go to BB , and his classmates ask questions about his village – one by one and the ss on BB answer questions -Feedback 4-Post – speaking : Nought and crosses 1) Have you ever been 2)How often you go to another village ? go with? 5- homewok : Lety think you are A :write a short letter to introduce your village and invite your penpal to visit your village Unit 3: A TRIP TO THE COUNTRYSIDE Lesson : Listen I- Objectives: By the end of the lesson , ss will be able to improve their listening skill and get the main information II- Teaching aids: Poster,extra-board , map III- Procedure: Warm up: “ Simon says”: Ex: Ss goes to BB and T asks him/her to request Teacher : “ Simon says: Go straight ahead ! ” Pre-listening: - Set the sence : the bus route from the city to Ba’s village *Hang on the map on BB and ask ss to look at the map -T explains somethings about the map , such as : to the north,to the west…etc… - Devide class into groups, ask ss to groups what the letters are -T writes their prediction on BB While – listening: * Odering statement : -Hang on the extra-board with statement on BB: a) The bus turn left onto a smaller road westward b) The bus went to the north of city c) They stopped at the gas station to get some more fuel d) It clossed a small bambo forest e) They closed the Dragon Bridge on highway No.1 f) The bus parked at the parking lot near a big old banyan g) The bus turned right in fron of a store beside a pond h) they turned left at the next corner near the pond - Ask ss to look at the statement carefully - Ask ss to listen to the tape and order the statement as they coud hear - Let ss listen to the tape turce -Ask ss to compare their answer -Ask ss to listen to the tape once more - Feedback * Anser key: a.4 b.1 c.3 d.7 e.2 f.8 g.5 h.6 -Ask ss to listen to the tape once more and check their prediction -Feddback :T write the coreect places on the map, next to the letters to complete the map * Answer key: A- banyan tree E- Gas station B-air port G- pond C-highway no.1 H- bamboo forest D-Dragon Bridge I – parking lot Post Listening Chain game -Ask student to retell the bus route to Ba’s village adverbs of time : Firsttly, the bus crossed the Dragon Bridge on highway No.1 Next ,it stopped at the gas station to get some more fuel… Homework: Write it up : Ask ss to write the bus route to Ba’s village using adverbs of time Unit 3: A TRIP TO THE COUNTRYSIDE Lesson : Read I- Objectives: By the end of the lesson , ss will be able to improve their reading skill and understand the content of the text II-Teaching aids: Poster,extra-board , map III- Procedure: Warm up: - SS work in groups Pre – reading : - Set the sence : “ Van is an exchange student He is now studying in the USA.He is living on a farm outside Columbus,Ohio -Pre-teach vocab: + Maize (n) = corn + hot dogs(n) + exchange student(n) + standard time(n) * Note: the Parkers = the Parker family * T/F Prediction Prediction Van is not an exchange student in the USA 2.He lives in Chicago 3.He lives with the Parkers Mr Parker works part-time at a grocery store Group Group 5.they have childrens : Peter,Sam and Mary 6.On Sunday afternoon:The Parkers watch Peter play baseball 7.Van feels like a member of them - Students work in groups - T writes their answer on extra-board 3.While –reading: -T read the text aloud -Ask ss to read the text silently (once) -Ask ss to check their answer-prediction -Give feedback: 1T 2.F 3.T 4.F 5.T 7.T 6.F 8.T -Let ss to read the text once more - Ask ss to complete the summary in P.26 ( 5b) -T gives papers and asks ss to write their answer in them - give feedback : T give the correct answer on the poster -Ask ss to read the complete summary aloud * Answer key : 1.Ohio 2.Farmer Works part-time at a grocery store 4.Peter 5.Sam 6.After Farm 8.They watch Baseball 10.Member -Ask ss to exercise 5a + Devide the class into groups + Hang on the poster with colum A on BB -Ask ss to label the corect word which has the same meaning with the word in colum A + Feedback : … * Answer key : 1.d 2.c 3.b 4.e Post – reading : - Ask ss to tell the main information about van and the Parkers - Feedback Homework : Write it up 5.a Unit 3: A TRIP TO THE COUNTRYSIDE Section : Write I-Objective : After the lesson ss will be able to improve their writing skill and write a short parragraph about “a country picnic” II -Teaching aids: Poster, picture… III-Procedure Warm up : Questions +Have you ever gone on a picnic Or -Hang pictures on BB in incorect order and ask +Where did you go? ss to order them – Questions: + What was they doing ? + Where did they decided to go on their picnic ? …etc… Pre-writing: - set the scene : A country picnic -Pre- teach vocab: + Site(n) (explaination) + Blanket (n) ( picture) + Blind man’s bluy (review) +Hurried (adv) - Checking: rub out and remember -hang on/show two pictures on BB -Ask ss to look at word-cues to get main information in their mind ( T notes : the simple past tense to talk about the acyions in the parts) Questions and answers: + T gives questions on an extra-board + Ss work in pair to answer questions in complete sentences Questions 1) Where did they decide to go? 2)How did they get to the picnic site? 3) Where is the picnic site?
