III New lesson Warm- up Pelmanism - Prepare 12 cards with numbers on one side and the verbs on the other: Meet - come - live - think - send - thought received - met - lived - receive - came - sent - Stick the cards on the BB so Ss can see only the numbers - Turn the cards over and see if they match Eg: teach - taught ; meet - met , give them one mark If not, turn the cards over again and ask the next team Presentation A Pre - reading - Teach the new words: to seem: dường a next door neighbor: hàng xóm to look like: trơng * Checking; R.O.R - Give some questions: 1, Is Nien Lan’s friend or Hoa’s friend ? 2, How old is Nien? 3, Where does Nien live? 4, Is she a beautiful girl? B While - reading - Ask Ss to read the dialogue between Hoa and Lan and check if their answers are correct or not - Give the answers Answers: 1, She is Hoa’s friend 2, She’s 12 years old 3, She lives in Hue 4, Yes, she is - Ask Ss to read the dialogue again to answer the given questions in the textbook - Call some Ss to give the answers - Call on some Ss to ask and answer the questions B Post - reading - Ask Ss to write a paragraph about Hoa and Lan - Give Ss some cues and ask them to use the simple present and simple past tense to write individually * Cues: A, Lan/ Hoa’s best friend B, They/ same class / Quang Trung School C, Last year / Hoa / to school / first time D, Lan / show / around / introduce / to / new friends - Let ss discuss with their partners - Choose some answers and correct them in front of the class IV.Consolidation - Remind Sts the use of the simple present and simple past tense V.Homework - Sts review key points - Do the exercises in workbook - Prepare the next lesson: Speak + Listen Period 3: Unit 1: My friends Lesson 2: Speak + Listen A.Objectives - After the lesson, Ss will be able to describe someone & complete the dialogue through listening to the information B Preparation - Textbook, tape, cassette - Pictures C Teaching process I.Organization - Greeting - Checking attendance II.Oral test - Homework correction - During the lesson III.New lesson Warm - up * Brainstorming - Ask Ss to think of the adjectives use to describe body building and hair: - Possible answers: - fat - straight - slim - long - tall - short - short - overweight - color: - black/ dark - slender - blond/ fair - brown - grey Presentation • speaking A Pre - Speaking - Introduce new words: slim (a):người mảnh mai straight(a) >< curly(a): thẳng >< xoăn blond hair (n): tóc vàng hoe fair hair : trắng, vàng nhạt - Show Sts the picture of Mary and ask them to describe her hair, her body building - Give example: Ex: She has long blond hair She is short and thin - Ask Ss to give more examples B While - Speaking - Prepare cards so that ss can drill easily: He / tall / thin She / short / slim He / short / fat long / black curly / blond straight / brown - Show the poster of people on p 11 - 12 - Call on a s to describe one person, the others guess who is described C Post - Speaking - Ask Ss to practice speaking as example: S1: This person is short and thin She has long black hair S2: Is she Ann? S1: No, she isn’t S3:Is she Mary? S1: Yes, she is - Go on until people on the poster are described - Ask Ss to describe one famous person or one of their classmates and the others have to guess who • Listening A Pre- Listening - T presents the requirements of the lesson - T shows these expressions: - How you do? - - I’d like you to meet - Nice to meet you - Come and meet - It’s a pleasure to meet you - Ss practice reading aloud - Ss can guess the expression to fill in each space B While - Listening - Ss listen to the tape twice and check their guessing - T calls some Ss to give their answers, asks if any others have other asnwers - T plays the tape once again, and pauses at each important sentence for Ss to check - T gives the right answers: I’d like you to meet How you do? I’d like you to meet It’s a pleasure to meet you Come and meet Nice to meet you - T calls some pairs to read the completed dialogue C Post- Listening - T calls more pairs to read the dialogues - T gives some remarks IV.Consolidation - Remind Sts the way to describe someone - Remind Sts some common mistakes Ss usually make V.Homework - Review the key points - Do the exercies in the workbook - Prepare the next lesson Period 4.Unit 1: My friends Lesson : Read A Objectives - After the lesson, Ss will be able to know more about Ba’s friends through a reading comprehension - Reading for specific information and answer the questions B Preparation - Textbook, project - Tape,cassette C Teaching process I Organization - Greeting - Checking attendance II Oral test - Homework correction - During the lesson III New lesson Warm - up Chatting: - Ask Ss some questions: + How many students are there in the picture? + Can you guess who is Ba? Presentation • Pre- Reading: - Teach some new words: character (n): tính cách orphanage(n): trại trẻ mồ côi reserved (a) >< out going : rụt rè, nhút nhát, kín đáo sociable (a) = out going: hoà đồng, dễ gần gũi (to) tell jokes : kể chuyện hài sense of humor: khướu hài hước generous (a) >< mean : rộng lượng, hào phóng to annoy = to bother : làm phiền volunteer (n): tình nguyện * Checking:What and where: - Have Sts repeat the words in chorus - Go on until all words are rubbed out - Give T / F statements prediction: Ba has only friends Ba and his friends have the same characters 3 Bao, Song, Khai are quite reserved in public They all enjoy school and study hard - Give feedback • While - Reading - Ask Ss to open their books on page 13 - Let the Sts check their prediction - Ask Sts to correct the false statements - Give feedback F: Ba has a lot of friends but he spends most of his time with Bao, Song and Khai F : They have different characters F : Only Song and Khai are quite reserved T - Get Sts to the exercise on page 14 - Ask Sts to work in pairs to choose the best answers - Give the answers: Key: a, A b, C c, A d, D - Give some comprehension questions: 1, How does Ba feel having a lot of friends? 2, Who is the most sociable? 3, Who likes reading? 4, What is the bad thing about Ba’s jokes? 5, Where does Bao spend his free time? - Ask Sts to practice in pairs - Call some pairs to give their answers - Give the right answers: 1, He feels lucky 2, Bao is 3, Khai does His jokes sometimes annoy his friends He spends his free time doing volunteer work at a local orphanage • Post - Reading - Ask all Ss to work in closed pairs - Ask Ss to work in groups and talk to one another about their friends, using the adjectives they have just learnt to describe - Structure: adj + enough + to – inf Eg: I am lucky enough to have a lot of friends IV.Consolidation - Remind Ss the key points V.Homework - Write a paragraph about one close friend - Learn by heart the new words and prepare Write - Do ex + in Workbook Period Unit 1: My friends Lesson : Write A Objectives - After the lesson, Ss will be able to write a paragraph about their close friends - Writing about oneself and about other people B Preparation - Textbook, project - Board and whiteboard marker C Teaching process I Organization II.Oral test - Homework correction III.New lesson 1.Warm- up: Kim’s game: - Ss look at the picture on P.17 quickly(30 seconds) Then ask them to keep their books closed - Divide the class into two groups, then give Ss two questions, the group which answers correctly and fastest wins the game a, How many people are there in the picture? (4) b, What is each person wearing? Presentation • Pre- Writing: - Ask Ss to read the information about Tam then answer some questions: a, What is his name? ( Le Van Tam ) b, How old is he? ( 14 ) c, What does he look like? ( He is tall and thin He has short black hair.) d, What is he like? ( He is sociable, humorous and helpful ) e, Where does he live? ( He lives at 26 Tran Phu Street, Hanoi ) f, Whom does he live with? ( He lives with his parents and his elder brother) g, Who is his friends? ( Ba and Bao.) • While- writing: - Ask Sts to write a paragraph about Tam, using the information they have read - Ask Sts to practice individually - Sts compare with the paragraph in their books P.15 - Sts practice writing about one of their friends after writing some information about him or her - Get Rts to share with their partners • Post- writing: - Ask each Sts to write a similar paragraph about him/herself - Ask some Sts to speak out in front of the class IV Consolidation - Remind Sts some key notes when writing a paragraph to describe someone V Homework - Ss write a paragraph about one of their family members - Do exercise in Workbook Period Unit 1: My friends Lesson 5: Language focus A Objectives - After the lesson, Ss will be able to use the simple present tense to talk about general truths and make sentences by using the structure “(not) + adj + enough + to- infinitive” B Preparation - Textbook, project - Sub- board, white board marker C Teaching process I Organization: - Greeting - Checking attendance II Oral test - Homework correction III New lesson Warm- up: Categories: - Ask Ss to find out the adjs beginning with the letters that the T gives: - Divide the class into two groups, give letters at the same time, Ss are to find out adjs beginning with the letters given Example: T writes: a b S writes: awful big T writes: g h S writes: great c clever i d dirty j heavy intelligent jealous T writes: k l m n S writes: kind lovely mean new T writes: o p q r S writes: old poor quite - The team which finishes first gets one mark Presentation: * Pre teach vocabulary: - a planet: hành tinh - Mars: Sao Hoả - Mercury: Sao Thủ - Silly: ngốc ngÕch * Revision of the simple present tense: - Review simple present tense: formation, uses rich - Focus on one of the uses of the simple present: It is used to express an action which is always true - Give Ss five verbs: be - move - set - rise - go - Ask Ss to complete the dialogue between Ba and Tuan, his young cousin - Get Ss to work in pair - Call some pairs to practice the dialgue aloud - Correct their pronunciation * Structure: (not) adj enough + to-infinitive - Ask Ss to hang the picture on the board and ask:“How I say and how you answer?” - Can you (1) this (2) over there? - No, I (3) not (4)…(5) to (6) the (7) over there * Answers: T: Can you hang this picture over there?
