Poor have tremendous potential and willingness to help themselves They need an opportunity to harness their potential and come out of poverty Individually they may be weak but collectively they are very strong. They need to be organized in to their own institutions where they will discuss their issues related to poverty and tackle heir problems as a group Community leaders who are strong and have the ability to guide the process and provide leadership to the groups

Social Mobilization Social Mobilisation Philosophy and Approach Poor have tremendous potential and willingness to help themselves They need an opportunity to harness their potential and come out of poverty Individually they may be weak but collectively they are very strong They need to be organized in to their own institutions where they will discuss their issues related to poverty and tackle heir problems as a group Community leaders who are strong and have the ability to guide the process and provide leadership to the groups Social Mobilisation Philosophy and Approach Continuous capacity building of the institutions of the poor strengthen their capacity to become sustainable Poor and their institutions need sensitive support mechanism to become self-reliant which helps them to come out of poverty Mobilization of poor to form their own institutions is the most important prerequisite and core investment in developmental programmes To provide the voice, space and resources on demand basis Why Socialmobilisation with Women Women in poor households suffer from gender bias without any access to education ,health and malnutrition Women in poor households are victims of child marriages/early marriages Women in poor households are victims of harassment and domestic violence Poor Women carry double burden of poverty and house hold responsibilities Social Mobilization  Social Mobilization is a broad scale movement to engage people's participation in achieving a specific development goal through self-reliant efforts  It takes into account the felt needs of the people, embraces the critical principle of community involvement, and seeks to empower individuals and groups for action  It is a planned decentralized process that seeks to facilitate change for development through a range of players engaged in interrelated and Social Mobilization  It involves relevant segments of society individuals,communities,decision and policy makers, opinion leaders, bureaucrats, technocrats and professionals  Social mobilization in total aims at a continuum of activities in a broad strategic framework The process encompasses dialogue and partnership with a wide spectrum of societal elements  At the policy level, the outcomes should be a supportive framework for decision making and resource allocation to empower communities to Methods/tools Social Mobilization Participatory Rural Appraisals tools Community interactive meetings Focus Group Discussions Kalajathas on different Thematic areas Film Shows Rallis Skits Pamphlets distribution for Publicity Wall posters Wall writings Social Inclusion The objective of the Social Inclusion is empowerment of vulnerable sections of society including women, SCs, STs, PWDs, minorities, communities living in difficult geographies and any other marginalized community of rural society Social Inclusion Various studies related to Social inclusion indicated the very high levels of poverty among the Marginalized groups like SC,ST poor minorities, women (single,widow) and persons with disability The main Focus of the NRLM is enable the rural poor to participate more effectively in the mainstream growth process and avail it benefits Under the technical Assistance component in Ajeevika targeting inclusion of vulnerable sections of the society Strategies to achieve its social inclusion goal in NRLM Capacity building of NMMU in Social Inclusion Capacity building of state SRLM/SMMU teams in social Inclusion Provide strategic guidance to NRLM in the area of Social Inclusion - identification of strategies for social inclusion and vulnerable groups and areas Technical assistance to SRLMs to help them develop Social Assessment (SA) and Social Inclusion Plans (SIPs) Components and sub-components Technical Assistance to states Integrating social inclusion in HRD interventions within NRLM Streamlining social inclusion in NRLM implementation THANKS FOR YOUR ATTENTION 12
