5 Master Model ArtCAM Project Tree Project Tree The project tree contains all of components that are created from a generated relief using the command Add to Project Master Model Example This example creates simple vectors and generates reliefs • Select Create New Project • Select Flat 3-Axis • Enter the File Name as two-tone Enter the width of 20 and height of 60 • Enter a Resolution as 35 Select Accept • Select the Assistant tab To help with the creation of the shape, grids are going to be used in conjunction with the smooth command within create polyline • From the main pull down menu select Bitmaps Views Snap Grid Settings • Enter a Grid Spacing of 5, Switch on Snap and Draw Grid and select OK • Select Create Polyline • Tick Draw Smooth polylines Snap to the Grid points as shown A smooth curve is produced As another curve is required, then by selecting the space bar on the keyboard it finishes this curve and the next click would be the creation of a new curve JewelSmith 5.1 Master Model ArtCAM • Select the space bar to start a new smooth poly-line • Snap to the Grid points as shown A second smooth polyline is generated These two individual curves will need to be joined together to make a single closed vector so that the shape editor can be used • Select Close • From the 2D View pull down menu select Snap Grid Settings • Switch OFF Snap and Draw Grid and select OK • Select both vectors and select Join Vectors The assistant changes to show the command and shows that vectors have been selected and the result of the command would be one vector The join command will not bridge any gaps so each end of the vector must touch the other end • • • • Select Join and then Close Right mouse click on the edge of the vector and select Shape Editor… On the Shape Editor, select Dome Shape Enter an angle of 45 with a Start Height of 0.5 and press Add and then Close • Press F3 5.2 JewelSmith Master Model ArtCAM The relief has been generated This needs to be added to the Assembly in the Project Tree Select the Assistant tab Select Create Triangle Mesh Set tolerance as 0.002 and Select Close with Back Relief Select Create Triangles Then select Add to Project The file is now saved in the assembly on your Project tab Save your file by pressing the save icon Only the relief is shown To make another separate model, the relief is reset and a new relief is generated • Select the Assistant tab Select Reset relief • Select the vector and select mirror vectors • Select Copy and then mirror horizontal centre and then Close This new mirrored vector will be given a different relief • Right mouse click on the edge of the vector and select Shape Editor… • On the Shape Editor, select Pyramid Shape JewelSmith 5.3 Master Model ArtCAM • Enter an angle of 25 with a Start Height of 0.5 and press Add and then Close • Press F3 The relief has been produced and needs to be added to the master model Select the Assistant tab Select Create Triangle Mesh Set tolerance as 0.002 and Select Close with Back Relief Select Create Triangles Then select Add to Project The file is now saved in the assembly on your Project tab The relief is shown To see the items the Assembly, without closing down the relief model, you can toggle the component view • Select Toggle Assembly Visibility The assembly is shown with the two components To edit them in the assembly, the relief model needs to be closed 5.4 JewelSmith Master Model ArtCAM The two components are shown and can be treated individually • Select the component silver (click on the name) • Select Shading • Select Polished Silver and select Ok • Select Nudge • Enter a step value of and select –X • Enter an Angle of 7, around the Z and press Rotate Clockwise • Select Ok • Select the component gold (click on the name) • Select Nudge • Enter an Angle of 7, around the Z and press Rotate Anti-Clockwise • Select Ok JewelSmith 5.5 Master Model ArtCAM Each part of the assembly model is now in the desired position The assembly model can now be saved Save your file by pressing the save icon 5.6 JewelSmith ...
