has been continuously growing and making considerable contributions to the industrialization and modernization process of the country In term of staff number, according to statistic in 2011, there were 2.300 staffs working for HUST, including 1.390 lectures and 910 supporting staffs [A.1.1.] With the up-to-date tranining module and program, HUST has been promoting the scientific research and technology transfer that play an important role in improving educational quality and contributing to the HUST fame and prestige Furthermore, HUST currently has international partnerships in training and scientific research with over 200 universities, scientific research centers, research institutes and educational organizations in 32 countries in the world HUST also is one of active members in international university networks [A.1.2] Through international cooperation, HUST has sent about 500 staffs and student to study and research abroad; implemented international projects on sicentific research, training, and infrastructure improvement Recently, HUST is offering the tranining programs for about 42.000 undergraduates and post-graduates with 67 undergraduate programs, 33 graduate programs, and 57 doctoral programs Regarding organizational scale, HUST consists of faculties and 20 specialized institutes/schools; 28 supporting offices and services centers; research institutes, 10 research centers, 11 national key laboratories and 200 laboratories; over 200 lecture theaters, classrooms, large hall with a system of conference rooms Annually, the number of enrollment students is: - 6.200 fulltime undergraduates; - 2.000 part-time undergraduates; - 500 second-degree undergraduates; - 500 international program undergraduates; - 1.000 – 1.200 post-graduates; - 60 – 70 doctorates [A.1.3] The development of HUST has been linked with strong support from the Government, great efforts by HUST staff and students from generation to generation, and especially with wholehearted world A.2 Advanced Training Program of HUST A.2.1 Advanced Training Program Department for Training and Fostering of Talent Engineers was established under the Decision 431/QĐ-BK dated 17th August 1999 In 2003 the Excellent Engineers Training Program was attached into Department for Training and Fostering of Talent Engineers and renamed Center for Training of Excellent Students The Center took over the management of Advanced Training Program in 2008 The current official name is Center for Training of Excellent Students (abbreviation CTES) [A.2.1] CTES cooperates with many domestic and foreign universities, colleges, enterprises to bring the best studying and researching conditions as well as the scholarship/ job opportunities to the students after graduation The students of the Excellent Engineers Program have many opportunities to intern in the domestic and foreign enterprises and to find scholarships of U.S.A., French partner universities The students of the Excellent Engineers Program can take part in several specific subjects in English taught by professors from partner universities CTES Missions: • Hierarchically manage, propose and implement the methods to train the high quality science and technology human resources for the society, as well as supply the science staffs to the researching centers all over the country • Cooperate with the management units of Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST) to build, improve and update the training programs according to the regulations the ministry and university as well as meet the demands the international integration • Build and implement the high quality and hierarchically international cooperation technology human resources training projects Build the progressive training programs along on the original program of Chico University, California State University Chico is the second-oldest University of the State of California, ranked 6th among 572 Public University of the region and assessed in 2010 "America's Best Colleges " by U.S News & World Report, among the top 100 U.S public University The advanced program in ME is one of 10 advanced programs in Vietnam, began enrollment in 2006 with annual recruitment 40-50 students • Advanced Program in Mechatronics Engineering • Program - The advanced program in ME is the formal program Outstanding students with high scores in the entrance examination of HUST are chosen to learn in it - The advanced program in ME is designed suitabally with credit system The conditions of graduation is done by regulation of HUST Students must overcome all courses required and complete selective courses Total 158 credits, CPA (accumulate points average rank) is ≥ 5.0 (10-level degrees) Graduating practice and thesis also are required
