Câu bị động (passive voice) Trong tiếng Anh, người ta hay dùng câu bị động Khác với câu chủ động chủ ngữ thực hành động, câu bị động chủ ngữ nhận tác động hành động Câu bị động dùng muốn nhấn mạnh đến đối tượng chịu tác động hành động thân hành động Thời động từ câu bị động phải tuân theo thời động từ câu chủ động Nếu loại động từ có tân ngữ, muốn nhấn mạnh vào tân ngữ người ta đưa tân ngữ lên làm chủ ngữ thông thường chủ ngữ hợp lý câu bị động tân ngữ gián tiếp I gave him a book = I gave a book to him = He was given a book (by me) Đặt by + tân ngữ đằng sau tất tân ngữ khác Nếu sau by đại từ vô nhân xưng mang nghĩa người ta: by people, by sb bỏ hẳn Hiện thường Quá khứ thường am is are was were + [verb in past participle] Active: Hurricanes destroy a great deal of property each year Passive: A great deal of property is destroyed by hurricanes each year Hiện tiếp diễn Quá khứ tiếp diễn am is are was were + being + [verb in past participle] Active: The committee is considering several new proposals Passive: Several new proposals are being considered by the committee Hiện hoàn thành Quá khứ hoàn thành has have had + been + [verb in past participle] Active: The company has ordered some new equipment Passive: Some new equipment has been ordered by the company Trợ động từ modal + be + [verb in past participle] Active: The manager should sign these contracts today Passive: These contracts should be signed by the manager today Các nội động từ (Động từ không yêu cầu tân ngữ nào) không dùng bị động My leg hurts Đặc biệt chủ ngữ chịu trách nhiệm hành động không chuyển thành câu bị động The US takes charge: Nước Mỹ nhận lãnh trách nhiệm Nếu người vật trực tiếp gây hành động dùng by vật gián tiếp gây hành động dùng with The bird was shot with the gun The bird was shot by the hunter Trong số trường hợp to be/to get + P2 hoàn toàn không mang nghĩa bị động mà mang nghĩa: • Chỉ trạng thái, tình mà chủ ngữ gặp phải Could you please check my mailbox while I am gone He got lost in the maze of the town yesterday • Chỉ việc chủ ngữ tự làm lấy The little boy gets dressed very quickly - Could I give you a hand with these tires - No thanks, I will be done when I finish tightening these bolts Mọi biến đổi thời thể nhằm vào động từ to be, phân từ giữ nguyên to be made of: Được làm (Đề cập đến chất liệu làm nên vật) This table is made of wood to be made from: Được làm từ (đề cập đến việc nguyên vật liệu bị biến đổi khỏi trạng thái ban đầu để làm nên vật) Paper is made from wood to be made out of: Được làm (đề cập đến trình làm vật) This cake was made out of flour, butter, sugar, eggs and milk to be made with: Được làm với (đề cập đến số nhiều chất liệu làm nên vật) This soup tastes good because it was made with a lot of spices Phân biệt thêm cách dùng marry divorce thể: chủ động bị động Khi tân ngữ người Anh ưa dùng get maried get divorced dạng informal English Lulu and Joe got maried last week (informal) Lulu and Joe married last week (formal) After very unhappy years they got divorced (informal) After very unhappy years they dovorced (formal) Sau marry divorce tân ngữ trực tiếp giới từ: To mary / divorce smb She married a builder Andrew is going to divorce Carola To be/ get married/ to smb (giới từ “to” bắt buộc) She got married to her childhood sweetheart He has been married to Louisa for 16 years and he still doesn’t understand her BỊ ĐỘNG VỚI CÂU HỎI 1) ĐỐI VỚI CÂU HỎI YES / NO: Câu hỏi yes / no câu hỏi có động từ đặt biệt trợ động từ do,does,did đầu câu Bước :Đổi sang câu thường Bước 2:Đổi sang bị động ( lúc trở thành câu thường, cách đổi học.) NHỮNG DẠNG ĐẶC BIỆT Chào em, 1,2,3 bên em học công thức chung loại bị động bản, nhiên gặp dạng đặc biệt em phải biết sử dụng công thức riêng cho loại Dưới dạng đặc biệt thường gặp DẠNG 1: People say that Dạng câu chủ động có dạng sau: People/ they + say/think/believe + (that) + S + V + O Ví dụ: 1.People said that he was nice to his friends (SAID WAS thời => dùng to be nice) => He was said to be nice to his friends 2.People said that he had been nice to his friends (had been sau thời said => dùng to have been) => He was said to have been nice to his friends 3.People say that he studies at Chu Van An high school ( say study thời nên dùng to study) => He is said to study chu van an high school 4.People say that he studied at Chu Van An high school ( studied thời khứ đơn, sau thời “say” nên dùng to have studied) => He is said to have studied Chu Van An high school Cách 2: Ví dụ: People said that he was nice to his friends Bước 1: - Bước 1: Dùng IT đầu câu => It was said that he was nice to his friends Nhận xét: - Bước giống cách - Cách dễ biến đổi động từ phía sau ngưới ta kêu đổi sang bị động mà không cho sẵn từ em dùng cách cho dễ Bị động câu mệnh lệnh Trước hết em nên biết cách nhận dạng câu mệnh lệnh Đó câu chủ từ, mà động từ nguyên mẫu đứng đầu câu Công thức: xem sơ đồ TẠI ĐÂY - Thêm Let đầu câu - Đem túc từ câu xuống - Thêm be vào sau túc từ (be để nguyên mẫu không chia) - Đổi động từ thành P.P - Các phần lại (nếu có ) viết lại hết Ví dụ: Write your name on the blackboard => Let your name be written on the blackboard CẤU TRÚC ĐẶC BIỆT CỦA CÂU BỊ ĐỘNG I Một số ý nhỏ: Nếu chủ ngữ somebody, someone, they, people, số S mang tính chất hiển nhiên sang bị động không cần dùng by Nếu chủ ngữ none, nobody, nothing sang câu bị động phải phủ định không cần dùng by Các tác nhân (by+ ) đứng sau trạng từ địa điểm đứng trước trạng từ thời gian, riêng thời HTHT since for phải đứng trước tác nhân II Một số trường hợp đặc biệt câu bị động: sử dụng cấu trúc thân không tự làm phải nhờ, thuê : Have + sth + done ví dụ: I had my hair cut she is having her bike repaired câu chủ động có dạng: People say that + clause (S+ V + obj) = S1 + V1 + that + S2 + V2 + obj a) dùng chủ ngữ giả để viết thành câu bị động đơn giản It + tobe + P2 (V1) + clause ( tobe phụ thuộc vào thời V1 b) Dùng chủ ngữ thật S2 S2 + tobe + P2(V1) + to + P2 (V2) ( V2 không chia khứ)/ have + P2(V2) ( V2 chia khứ) ví dụ 1: People say that He often treats him wife badly > It is said that He often treats him wife badly > He is said to treat him wife badly ví dụ 2: people know that her sister was at the New Century Club last night > It is known that her sister was at the New Century Club last night > Her sister is known to have been at the New Century Club last night SB ADVISE/REQUEST/INVITE/BEG/URGE/ORDER/RECOMMEND… TO DO ST =>SOMEONE +BE+ ADVISED/REQUESTED/INVITED/BEGGED/ URGED/RECOMMENDED… TO DO ST Ex: she invited us to come to her party => we were invited to come to her party SB AGREE /ARRANGE /DETERMINE /DECIDE /ADVISE/ BEG/ URGE/ ORDER/ RECOMMEND/ ….TO DO ST =>SB AGREE / ARRANGE /DETERMINE /DECIDE/ ADVISE/BEG/ URGE/ORDER/ RECOMMEND/ THAT ST SHOULD BE DONE Ex: he decided to sell the house => he decided that the house should be sold SB INSIST/ PROPOSE/ RECOMMEND/ SUGGEST/… + V_ing =>SB INSIST/ PROPOSE/ RECOMMEND/ SUGGEST THAT ST SHOULD BE DONE Ex: they advise giving up smoking => they advise that smoking should be given up SB NEED TO DO ST => ST NEED V-ing/ ST NEED TO BE DONE Ex: she needs to water the flowers => the flowers need watering/ The flowers need to be watered 10 SB THINK/ SAY/ REPORT/BELIEVE/ KNOW THAT SOMEONE DO ST/THAT ST + BE+ NOUN/ADJ =>IT + BE+ THOUGHT/SAID/REPORTED/ BELIEVED/ KNOWN… THAT SOMEONE DO ST =>ST + BE+ THOUGHT/SAID/REPORTED/ BELIEVED/ KNOWN… TO DO/TO BE + … Ex: all of us think that she is the most intelligent girl in class =>It is thought that she is the most intelligent girl in class =>she is thought to be the most intelligent girl in class 11 SB MAKE/ LET/ SEE SOMEONE DO ST =>SOMEONE IS MADE/LET/ SEEN TO DO ST EX: they let him know the truth =>He is let to know the truth Khi chuyển sang bị động SOMEBODY LET SOMEONE BARE ST => SOMEONE IS LET BARE ST Lưu ý : 'Theo sau LET la` BARE !'
