WEEK Lesson - speaking  About the IELTS Speaking Test  Part 1: Types of questions  Fluency markers  • Watch and listen, and talk about the speaking test • Part – INTERVIEW - Exchange with the examiner for about 1-2 minutes on a certain topic • Part – LONG TURN • Part - DISCUSSION Fluency and coherence Lexical resource Grammatical range and accuracy Is willing to speak at length, though may lose coherence at times due to occasional repetition, selfcorrection or hesitation Uses a range of connectives and discourse markers but not always appropriately Has a wide enough vocabulary to discuss topics at length and make meaning clear in spite of inappropriacies Generally paraphrase successfully Uses a mix of simple and complex structures, but with limited flexibility May make frequent mistakes with complex structures, though these rarely cause comprehension problems pronunciation Uses a range of pronunciation on features with mixed control Shows some of effective use of features but this is not sustained Can generally be understood throughout, though mispronunciation of individual words or sounds Types of questions • Yes/No questions: E.g Do you like cooking? • Optional questions e.g Do you work or study? • Wh questions E.g What are your hobbies? • A type of request E.g Could you tell me about your family?
