601410 Supervisor: Dr Dương Thị Nụ Hanoi – 2011 iii ABSTRACT In learning a foreign language in general, and English in particular, the knowledge and mastery of vocabulary play an important role Without vocabulary, it is difficult to convey anything In order to use language suitably in real context, students should acquire an adequate number of words and should know how to use them accurately However, teaching and learning vocabulary efficiently is a problem to every teacher and student Vocabulary- learning difficulty is an issue that needs a lot of discussion The aims of this study are to identify the difficulties in learning vocabulary of students of computer at Yenbai Teachers’ training college and to find out possible solutions to the found difficulties in order to help students learn computer- related vocabulary in effective way The study was undertaken among all teachers and 3rd year students of computer at Yenbai teachers’ training college Statistical analysis revealed that most of students are coping with various difficulties in learning vocabulary, i.e the lack of specialized knowledge with numerous terms, complicated structures and countless expressions, the lack of various teaching technique, the lack of teaching aids and reference materials Some solutions are suggested to deal with these problems including encouraging students to develop their self- studying in order to become active learners, improving learning vocabulary interest and motivation, improving specialized knoledge for ESP teachers and students, improving teachers’ activities in teaching Bái Người thực hiện: Vương Thị Thu Hòa Trong việc học ngoại ngữ nói chung tiếng Anh nói riêng việc nắm từ vựng đóng vai trị quan trọng Khơng có từ vựng khó biểu đạt diễn tả điều Nhằm mục đích sử dụng ngơn ngữ hiệu phù hợp ngữ cảnh thật người học phải tích lũy đủ số lượng từ vựng sử dụng chúng cách xác Tuy nhiên, dạy học từ vựng cách có hiệu vấn vấn đề người dạy người học Khó khăn việc học từ vựng cần phải xem xét nhiều Nhiệm vụ đề tài xác định khó khăn việc học từ vựng tiếng Anh chuyên nghành Tin sinh sinh viên Tin trường CĐSP Yên Bái đưa số giải pháp nhằm giúp sinh viên Tin học từ vựng chuyên nghành Tin hiệu Đề tài thực với tham gia giáo viên tiếng Anh 100 sinh viên Tin Dựa kết nghiên cứu đề tài, sinh viên gặp phải khó khăn sau học từ vựng tiếng Anh chuyên nghành Tin : thiếu kiến thức bản, phương pháp học tập chưa phù hợp, thiếu động học tập, khó khăn phát âm, sử dụng nhớ từ vựng, giáo trình chưa phù hợp Một số giải pháp cho khó khăn là: nâng cao kiến thức cho sinh viên, kiến thức chuyên nghành cho giáo viên, đổi phương pháp dạy học từ vựng, trang thiết bị dạy học, tài liệu giảng dạy tiếng anh chuyên nghành Kết nghiên cứu đề tài góp phần giúp sinh viên Tin học tiếng anh chuyên
