Unit6: ENVIRONMENT Lesson 4 : Reading A. Aims: By the end of the lesson, students will be able to read the poem and understand it in details * Teaching aids:  Tape + extra board b. Content: I. Pre  reading: 1. Warm  up: Chatting:  Do you like poetry?  Name some poems that are your favorite?  Have you ever read an English poem?  Do you think it easy to read an English poem?  2. Pre  teach:  Junk-yard (n) : bãi phế thải (explanation) A place where people stores wastes  Precious (a) : quý, quý giá, quý báu (synonym = valuable)  Treasure (a) : kho báu, của cải (translation)  Foam (n) : bọt (picture)  Hedge (n) : hàng rào (hàng cây tiếp nhau)/ bờ dậu (board drawing/ picture)=green fence  Nonsense (n) : điều vô nghĩa / lời nói dại dột (translation)  (to) minimize : giảm đến mức tối thiểu (explanation) * Checking: What and Where (or “guessing word” eg: this word has an “m”…) 3. Pre–questions: - Set the scene : Two people are going on a picnic. They’re talking about the pollution. - Give students two questions : a. Who are the people in this poem? b. Where are they? II. While reading: 1.Checking the pre–question: *Key: a. They are mother and son b. They are in the woods 2.Matching: Match each word in A to an appropriate explanation in B (P.51) 1. Discussion: – Topic: “What could you do in your school/your house to minimize pollution?” – Dividing the class into two groups for them to discuss – Feedback (Teacher – whole class) *Possible answers: - Put the bins around the schoolyard. - Pick up the rubbish and throw it into the trash bins. - Not litter - Reuse, recycle bottles, cans, plastic bags. 3. Grammar review: Conditional sentences type 1 IV.Homework: 1. Answer the questions about the poem (P51) 2. Write 5 things you have to do to keep the environment unpolluted. 3.
