A large variety of vegetation and wild life is found in these forests. Most of the trees that grow here are fruit bearing trees and they provide fruits to the animals and birds that live here. However, man is callously cutting down the forests for his own selfish benefits. These forests are being cut down at a very alarming rate. It has been estimated that around 90 percent of the rainforest have been cut down. They are generally cut down for commercial purposes. Individual farmers also cut down the forests to convert them into farms. Another reason to cut down these forests is to provide firewood and wood for making furniture and buildings. It is believed that more than two million different species of plants and animals live in the tropical rainforests. There are numerous species that have not yet been discovered by man. The cutting down of these forests has posed a serious threat to these species as well as to our planet, Earth.
